I simply can't load pages, even without going thru SPA stuff. Loading a pull request will hang indefinitely. It's ridiculous.

That isn't even to mention their app, which has been doing something similar for longer.

#programming 2026-07-12T20:31:26Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqszrl6kvky0ayx3rxu9u2hljje8qyhn7kl3lutndgqc0kl2me4v4kgzypg7734kljjtt56r572h4k5l5r5jmyg9sz3llnw09e7jvpad5ypeyw8a3vl After countless hours spread over multiple months, I am happy to announce the addition of a `Timestamp` type to the `time` crate. It is a highly-optimized representation of a moment in time with nanosecond precision, fully interoperability with all existing types and the standard library.

In order to land this, I redesigned parts of value formatting to ensure conversions were not performed unnecessarily. This gave performance benefits to other types as well!

#Rust #RustLang #programming 2026-06-21T00:58:45Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsz28ft62k999x9e0lea0e7hperkyn3lq8mx6t553m6m7rfu6f2l2szypg7734kljjtt56r572h4k5l5r5jmyg9sz3llnw09e7jvpad5ypeytf2un9 If your built was (temporarily) broken by the recent release of `time`, please send me a link to the relevant `Cargo.toml` so I can ensure there is no unexpected breakage when I re-release it (patched, of course).

#Rust #RustLang 2026-06-13T05:19:03Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsfhqsck4gx8ht6vd0v3p94yjq7ln0qse3sat2x5znecekhjr23v0gzypg7734kljjtt56r572h4k5l5r5jmyg9sz3llnw09e7jvpad5ypeyc6ccsw RE: https://mastodon.social/@jhpratt/116481124268915139

The crates I maintain on crates.io don't have 2.8 billion downloads for nothing. My work is high quality, as anyone who has worked with me will attest to.

Unsure what I can do? I've spent some time optimizing the `time` crate. From knocking 10% off of hot paths to 10x speedups in edge cases, the gains are unquestionably real and impactful.

Interested? Among the things I was checking was whether yellow fever vaccines are required (no for my plans).

As it turns out the airport in Bogotá offers free yellow fever vaccines to all, including foreigners. And given the apparent price, it is unironically cheaper for people in some US cities to fly to Bogotá, get a vaccine, and return home than it is to go around the corner and get a shot.

American healthcare at its finest. 2025-03-08T09:14:26Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqspq33tx8y7266zx5kd5hvtqd8mfda862kz0esxxpfwc3rgc3nlksgzypg7734kljjtt56r572h4k5l5r5jmyg9sz3llnw09e7jvpad5ypeyh7lvee I just saw it pointed out that "X" is 88 decimal in ASCII. You want your center of gravity to be directly over the foot that is on the ground. It will likely feel like you're walking like a penguin.

It's not perfect, but at a minimum it means you will fall forwards and not backwards, which is safer as your head won't impact the ground.

Happy to answer any questions people have about winter weather. Only one problem: Ukraine is a party to the Ottawa Treaty that bans land mines outright and the US has said that it will abide by it outside of the Korean peninsula.

Yes, you read that right. Both the US and Ukraine just openly admitted that they will be committing war crimes in the immediate future. 2024-11-20T04:55:49Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqs9fnwh9t43xgvutzqa87kz7d6v3r34a43spqqfkv0upmpr062rn9qzypg7734kljjtt56r572h4k5l5r5jmyg9sz3llnw09e7jvpad5ypeyavqna6 Who's hiring?
