Yes, to varying degrees. This year I have a lot going on so I kept it to herbs and tomatoes, plus the blackberries, strawberries and blueberries that come back on their own.

Sent out the subscriber benefits for my Ko-fi today. A bit later than I like but what with pneumonia and play rehearsal things have been a bit distracting. I had a lot of fun designing a postcard with a sampling of stamps I’ve carved this month, and I printed some bookmarks from one of the bookmark stamps I made. A very black and white packet this month, so I used some washi tape to bring in some color. #Art #LinoCut #Handmade #SnailMail

Ah ha! I said to myself, these are perfect to make some fountain pen stamps.

So I did and I love them.

I’m putting together a Mother Goose costume for a play I’ve been cast in. I had a very clear idea of what the hat should look like. Dollar Tree had sun hats for $3, so I picked up two. One is the base, the other was unraveled to build the peak. Hot glue, flowers and ribbons completed the look. I’m really happy with the result! #Handmade #Art

I usually have a pen, or at least a pen brand, that is my next pen. For awhile that has been a Nahvalur Nautilus. There were several in the Atlas Stationers experienced pen sale last week, so I set myself a budget and tuned in to the sale.

2 hours later the last Nahvalur was coming up and I’d failed to win anything yet. I was discouraged but determined. And it worked! I got my pen!!

It came today and it is so pretty in person. Now, what ink 🤔 #FountainPens

2025-02-05T14:27:36Z

February 5th and I've written the 5th letter in a row. I'm really enjoying this letter writing challenge!

I have room for some more addresses this month. I'm writing one letter every day, and I self imposed that I want to write to 28 unique people.

Would you like a letter in the mail? Written with a fountain pen on pretty paper? Probably with a wax seal on it? No obligation to write me back. If so, send me your mailing address!

2025-02-01T18:09:58Z

I know I’m not the only person who likes to match ink to pen. When I got this Laban 325 last month I replaced the nib with a 1.5 Stub and then wanted to put some shimmer ink in there. My modest ink collection only had one shimmer ink, Diamine Arctic Blue. It did not match the pen! After some research I ordered a bottle of Vinta Burnt Sugar. It is the perfect warm brown with shimmery gold that I wanted in this pen. #FountainPen

I really like this Conklin All America, the weight of it is so pleasant in my hand and the wood is beautiful. But everytime I go to use it the nib is caked with dried ink. I’ve tried storing it nib up but it still happens. Once I get it clean it wires just fine, but it’s aggravating. Anybody had this issue? Is there a fix?

2025-01-23T16:13:24Z

This year I’m using stickers to decorate my journal and it’s a lot of fun. I’m flipping through my sticker book and I use whatever random page I land on. It leads to pages like today which are not really my style, but fun to do. It is also very low pressure and fun.

Then of course I have to pick an ink that matches the layout. Today I’ll use FWP Nebulous Blue, which of course is in the Esterbrook Nebulous Plume.

I started a new solo journaling RPG called “Sweaters by Hedgehog”. It’s exactly the cozy, low stakes thing I need to have on hand when I want to relax.

Today a Bat P.I. named Sheryl came into my shop, looking for a no frills sweater to keep her warm on stakeouts. I suggested stripes in brown, black and grey to help her blend in.

#BulletJournal #Journal #FountainPen I have started the year strong for several years in a row and then get completely sidetracked and forget to use my journal for months at a time. My birthday is January 2 so a new journal has been my go to gift.

All that to say I think I need a journaling group. Like a book club? Where we check in at least monthly? I do so much better when I’m accountable to other people.

#WritersCoffeeClub Dec 6: Sentence fragments?

Oooo yeah I’m a fan of a good, well placed sentence fragment. I’m of the “rules were made to be broken” school of grammar. I believe that knowing when to do things “wrong” for impact is one of the ways you flavor you writing. Knowing when though, that’s the key. There’s a fine line between spicy and incompetent.

I haven’t written letters in way too long. I found, of course, the longer I waited the more pressure there was. It’s been months, this better be an epic letter!

So today I sat down, wrote a short note saying hello and let’s get back to corresponding. I put a wax seal on it and some cool stickers and even the stamp matched the stationary. It felt so good. Hopefully I can get caught up with all the pen pals I’ve neglected.

My 9 yr old does not usually like to dress up for Halloween. Sensory issues and such. But this year, at the last minute, he decided he wanted to be a washing machine. He wanted to make the costume himself. I build miniatures and do other crafty things, so I’ve got materials. I also have some know how. He did want my supplies but rejected my help for the most part.
