Just wanted to pop in on Bandcamp Friday to announce a free online show I'm planning for November 8th. Featuring guest wonderful local fingerstyle songwriter Rebecca Fairless of the Dusty Halos. Should be a nice cozy show to tune into on a Sunday evening.

After and before, dried out my garlic harvest for the year. It was ready to clean up the heads today. Should be a nice bit of homegrown stuff for me to use into the fall. If it’s like last year’s stuff it’ll be a little sweeter and milder than store bought you get. #gardening #garlic

I found a copy of it in a group of records my wife has from her father. Once I listened I liked it so much more than I thought I would, he was great live!

I have it in my head to try to make some oat flour scones (with blueberries or apple). My wife has celiac disease so we can’t have regular flour in the house. But there are alternatives, including I understand using your food processor and some GF oats to just blitz and make flour. I’ll see how it goes this week maybe. #Celiac #Baking

Sail on, Brian Wilson. I don't have much to add, what a genius. But here's a lesser known one I recently remembered, a kind of melodic and simplified story of colonialism in song. It's a weird and interesting trip! A rich text. It was mixed into one of the early 2000s Avalanches DJ sets that my best friend and I loved very much when that was a thing you could find on file sharing.

There's some really neat Nick Drake demos that I happened upon on YouTube. The audio quality varies a bit, but these instrumentals from around Bryter Layter album era are fascinating to me. Great music to work to as the spring sunshine tries to come through.

For this cold snap, I’m all in on making myself spiced hot chocolate as an occasional mood elevator. I used a dash of ground cloves, cardamom and cinnamon mixed in while brewing the chocolate (just a Camino mix) and it was a real highlight on this frosty day, so warming when I wasn’t feeling the day. #food

Been making progress slowly on my new music stuff.

Here's one bit from today. Recorded at the library and then mixed at home with a little fuzz, and kind of a wavey feel.

I’ve been adding some final bits to my ambient guitar recording project, “Music for Snailports”. It’s now a 5 track expedition, and I’ve enjoyed where it’s gone, sound wise.

I might pause after this and call it complete. Gonna turn back to my acoustic song writing in the summertime, I believe.

Listen to it here, it’s intended for relaxed and stimulating listening and uses effects while keeping things fairly minimalist:

I had a bit of time to record two new tracks to my ongoing instrumental/ambient project “music for snailports”. Trying to just have a mini idea of how I want something to sound and then doing some spontaneous recording. These ones came out a bit #GuitarSoli or like kind of reminds me of being by the ocean.

Here’s the bandcamp for listening, the new ones are “C” and “D”:

Hey just wanted to send out a reminder I'm doing a free online show on Sunday evening. I've got a set of my songs together enough to sing out and figured out streaming setup stuff, which has been fun. My stuff is pretty folky, singer songwriter stuff in a Jackson C Frank meets bedroom indie kind of way.

Tune in Sunday 9pm EST/6pm Pacific.

Doing it through Bandcamp Live, which is free so good enough for me:

I realized they’ve opened up Bandcamp Live (online concert tool) to everyone. So, gonna try it out and do a folky set on May 19th 9pm EST/6pm PST (free show)

I’m new to live streaming, but figure it could be fun to connect musical pals near and far with some songs and fingerstyle guitar.

#NowListening to Marc Emery - “Listening Music/Anfang” (reissue 2022 of 1974-75 recordings). Really loving the gentle lilt of this mostly instrumental LP this morning. A cool archival reissue that would appeal to fans of the Tompkins square label guitar soli retrospectives. Great #guitarInspiration too. Once I’m fully over this cold I’m hoping to get back to playing.

Here it is on bandcamp:
