Nearly every silicon wafer on Earth is grown with a method discovered by accident. In 1916 chemist Jan Czochralski reached for his inkwell, dipped his pen into a crucible of molten tin instead, and pulled out a single unbroken crystal. He published the crystal-pulling technique in 1918; Bell Labs later applied it to semiconductors. Every microcontroller and IoT sensor begins life as a Czochralski crystal. fluidwire.com

#IoT #Electronics #TechHistory #Engineering
