If you're running #NixOS, have you tried Omniflake? I've seen it pop up here and there, but I'm kinda surprised it isn't more popular.
https://github.com/fzakaria/omniflake

And if you are using it, are you getting a version mismatch between nixpkgs and home-manager? I can't figure out how to fix this lol

Those of us who've been self-hosting for a while tend to forget that we have specialized knowledge and experience that most people don't. For example, the average person probably only spends 5-10 hours per week fixing their homelabs

Hey if you like the idea of #Linux on #Android, the #AndroidVirtualizationFramework now allows virtual machines to access the phone's storage (not all of it, but the same like any app). This removes a huge barrier in running useful Linux software on Android, even though it's still got a ways to go before we can launch Linux apps directly alongside Android apps.

If you every wanted to know how it's possible to subjugate an entire population of people, check out this video. It's based on #HalfLife, but you don't need to know the story to understand it. The author does a great job of giving context as he goes. Basically, he goes over #MaslowsHierarchyOfNeeds step-by-step and how the regime (the Combine) twists it to suit their own goals. And if you are a Half Life fan, check out Skyrionn's other videos!

"Beginner's guide to the GNOME desktop environment for Linux", AKA ":ms_paw_print: for newbies"

Inspired by a post from tillian 🦊 :antifa: ACAB (npub1mgy…cynu), this is a blog covering the basics of using GNOME for someone fresh from Windows or Mac. How to navigate, how to access your applications, how to run startup & shutdown commands, how to use Activities and virtual desktops, etc.

If you're new to Ubuntu/Fedora or another Linux distribution, and you're not sure how to get started, this will (hopefully) help.

For long-term users: please let me know if there's anything you think I should add!

If you listen to a lot of Internet Radio, #Shortwave is a really cool #Gnome app. It's connected to radio-browser.info so you can search channels, but my favorite feature is that it keeps a cache of songs played, and you can download any played song directly to your home folder!
