We have a lot of thistle growing in our yard. It's great to see the wide variety of bees, wasps, and flies that visit.

I'm familiar with her from an album Dread Kennedys - In Dub We Trust. She covered the DK's Nazi Punks Fuck Off. I saw her once at 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis many years ago.

When Minneapolis voters would have had the chance to vote on a tax for the Vikings stadium, circa 2010(?), the city council voted to rescind that option. The council members who did not support the option to vote were all voted off the council at the next election. (I like my Vikings but the very wealthy Wilf brothers can go fuck themselves.)

Thanks for sharing that! It's refreshing to hear of government working for the people!

Just the fucking gall of this federal administration terrorizing communities in Minnesota and elsewhere and then trying to bring "the law" down on people resisting their Gestapo tactics!!! 🖕

@npub1a2t…9esa you mentioned Hiss Golden Messenger. They're playing a free show tonight in coordination with our local public radio station, The Current.

#Minnesota voters, the DFL primary is August 11. I'm looking forward to voting for Peggy Flanagan.

I remind myself of this every #MayThe4thBeWithYou I appreciate Star Wars, but I think it's important to remember #KentState

"Wayback in 68
Ohio kent state
Was nothing so great
Have of have not
Forcing the point
Shot in the back
Take it back
Down trod soldier away
Flower power
Within
Kill me
Kill this way of life"

As a person who lives here, I think Walz is calling bullshit on the feds and is trying to keep folks safe. (I do understand your skepticism, though.)

This reminds me of the evolution in thought of my deeply religious mom. She was a conservative Catholic (but not a right-winger) and was opposed to abortion and considered herself prolife based on that one factor.
However, in conversations with at least one priest in her parish over the years, she expanded her definition of prolife to be anti-war, supporting folks who were experiencing poverty, etc.
It pleased me that her views changed.

As a #WorldCup fan, I have rapidly waning enthusiasm for it to be held in the United States next year considering all that we're dealing with.
I don't watch a ton of sports. I watch the NFL and cheer for the Vikings. Otherwise, the men's and women's World Cup events excite me, too.
I love futbol because it's the sport the world competes in. It is a uniting force in my opinion.
So, as an American, a sports fan, and a democrat, I'm digging into my competing thoughts and feelings.

I saw Nick Cave on Stephen Colbert a couple of nights ago, and he read that particular Red Hand File.
