NetBSD 10.1 works quite well on the ThinkPad T460p. I did a quick test drive and almost everything works out of the box, yes even the WiFi and some Fn Keys. The only thing I'm missing is the battery widget of the xfce panel, right now it only shows if the laptop is charging or working on batteries. I have to say the results are impressive.
I'm not going to keep it on the laptop because it doesn't have full disk encryption but for a desktop I think it could be nice.

Oh man, I'm sick!! 30 minutes ago I was about to publish a toot here on Mastodon and suddenly I though: "Hey this could be a nice post for your gopher phlog..." and what started as a 300 or 400 characters Mastodon toot is now 637 words and counting 😅

How to feel relevant (or show you're an idiot): Get a piece of software written in C that works well and has been developed for decades and try to rewrite it in Rust because you think you know better than the old guys or because you need your 2 seconds of glory.
Maybe some people will think I'm rude, but let's be honest here, I'm just saying what many of you already think but are too polite or afraid to say publicly.

Use the cloud, they said. It's much more reliable and secure than managing your own infrastructure, they said 😂

This is the first time I see software released under CC and I'm curious about your choice because CC itself recommend against using Creative Commons licenses for software. https://creativecommons.org/faq/#can-i-apply-a-creative-commons-license-to-software

Boosts and comments with more details are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for being involved in this 🙂

Why so many people hate C?
Because the C language assumes you know what you’re doing and lets you. If you don't know what you are doing you can learn or you can hate the language.

I strongly encourage people to choose the right language for their toots.
Sometimes it is inevitable to forget about it but if you do your best to use it, you help to keep people timelines clean of messages that they can't understand (if they have setup the right config on their profiles). The translate option at least for me does not work most of the time and many people just don't bother and/or don't care.
Thanks in advance.

If you haven´t see it and you love text adventures / interactive fiction you should check out this documentary: Get Lamp, currently you can download it for free.
I really enjoyed it, especially the interviews with the #infocom people.
