HEADLINES, click-bait, rage,
engagement at all costs,
when does it stop?
- you have the choice -
when you're fatigued,
of so much time on screen,
focustr, #touchgrass,
close your eyes,
breathe in and out,
listen to your heart,
where does your #time go?
how can you shift it,
to IRL moments,
with those you love,
with those who care about technology
that doesn't forcibly harvest your time,
instead, giving it back...
take your time back,
touch grass.

What do u see in nostr?
When people dismiss technology like #nostr, it is often because they do not see what makes it special. This future set of 21 cards will encompass many of those principles that may go unnoticed to the untrained eye, yet make nostr an essential part of our lives.

It’s always and never the right time. Always, because learning about nostr happens throughout our entire journey on nostr. As it evolves, we’re always newbies at something related to it.
Never, because the best explanations don’t feel like explanations. They come through welcoming social cues, culture, memes, FOMO, interesting content, client and tool testing and discovery, nostr experiences…

What NOT to build
Empowering building projects often begin by having a strong opinion on what NOT to build. Nostr is one of those projects, where its guiding principles have been discovered and shaped from the contrasts of social media platforms.
As the end of 2024 nears, we have a lot to be #grateful for at #nostr. I'll be refining and releasing, one by one, 21 cards highlighting various gifts of nostr and their nemesis. What are you grateful for?

Thank you for your reply. I’ve been digging deeper into this rabbit hole. So much to learn…
I’ll try to run it again today. I think it’s an issue with my config.
If I have the VPS not to use root, for improved security, instead using a different user, I must update it with the other user, right?

I’m troubleshooting a 502 error.
So far, this is what I’ve confirmed is working:
- nginx is running
- the config file syntax is ok
- a test of the config file was successful
- I don’t think I have conflicts on either port (80,443)
- the DNS is pointing to the right IP
- I’ve double checked the spelling of the domain that replaced the example.com
Any other suggestions?
Is there something in the ditto setup that is most likely to trip a newbie?
I haven’t discovered the issue yet, but I’ll walk through my screenshots to see if I spot something.

#nostr is like hubs connected on a #protocol planet.
That mind-boggling feeling of accessing a variety of nostr clients with just one key keeps growing.
Nostr has more than 3 times the amount of developers than X ( @npub16c0…6nvr @npub1l2v…ajft #nostriga) So far, that has often meant developers working on their own unique clients, adding to the diversity of the nostrverse.
A different sphere of possibilities is starting. @npub1q3s…d26p et al, have opened up @npub10qd…arpj relay/clients people can run on a VPS to host their own communities. I wonder if this will lead to developers/designers creating components and themes that people could customize to shape unique environments for their communities, based on their niche needs.
The variety of nostr clients already supports a decentralized nostr, and, with the advent of niche communities, that is likely to increase.
Communities are not decentralizing for the sake of decentralization, but by focusing on bringing people together over common interests.
Best part: all these efforts continue adding to nostr’s network effects.

As we interact with technology, glass screens seem to be far away from what we consider tangible, as if everything digital belonged to the realm of the imagination.
These screens, however, even when floating in the technological cloud, are becoming an essential part of our lives.
They can be the keepers of memories & identity,
The builders of creativity,
The connectors to our family and friends,
The discoverers of new information,
The doors to our money,
The guardians of our health,
The organizers of our time,
The builders of mindfulness...
what does technology mean to you?

I’m sorry I missed your #interoperability talk. I was hoping for a livestream. Why is interoperability important, and what can devs do to embrace it?

Why is it important for people to understand nostr’s tech language (protocol, keys, decentralization, censorship-resistance, zaps, v4v…) instead of it being hidden away for ease of use? @npub18am…p424

I’d like #art to reflect the idea that some people do not see what makes technology like #bitcoin and #nostr special, but for those who do, it is something meaningful and empowering.
This design carries keys. Five of them. You will spot four of them easily, but the fifth one… that may be a bit of a surprise. For those who understand the value of owning your keys, and hence your nostr, you will see more than five keys there. You will see why keys matter, and that, cannot be seen with the eyes.

when people dismiss technology like #nostr or #bitcoin, it's often because they do not see what makes them special.

Thank you for sharing your story. It’s inspiring to hear that. I’m bilingual too, English/Spanish, and I have also noticed the struggles with technology that does not come in people’s native language, even when they have some knowledge of that other language.
I know you have done a lot of work on translation. Do you think that aside from translating or thinking of English as a universal language, we may have another universal language: technological symbols? Is it possible that these symbols are much easier to learn and could make products more accessible even if translations are unavailable?
People may not know the word play, but they recognize the “play” button, or download, send, camera, even emojis. (with some cultural nuances)

I agree that follower counts is only one metric, and I’m glad that it does not hold as much weight on nostr as in platforms. Some clients don’t even display it.
I look forward to the ideas that may come related to our web of trust, so far, that means getting cleaner feeds, and much stronger conversations.
The beauty about #nostr is how it’s discovering and implementing multiple solutions, which we’re already seeing, so it’s not a one size fits all.
What else do you hope to see?

2024-08-21 23:27:47 UTC

Consider following @npub1qjt…z44v not for the amount of followers he has, as he gamed that, but for what he reveals about #nostr and what he suggests could be done to strengthen it and in turn our web of trust. #wot

If you have lived under authoritarian rule,
if you have experienced the ravages of war,
if you have experienced the hardships of spiking inflation,
if you have been censored for using your voice to defend human rights,
if your bank account has been closed or worse for supporting a protest,
if you've been persecuted for being different...
the choice of personal #freedom through responsibility is simple.
Learning about people's experiences across the globe, opens our eyes to the principles behind freedom tech and why they matter.
