Yes. I always assumed this to be the case ever since reading this post by Nika Dubrovsky, where after his death she describes how they both got COVID, but somehow he never really recovered. It is speculation, but it sounds very likely that he had some form of Long COVID.

I think it is fantastic that it worked for you and helped you to get better. I often curse myself for having such a hypercritical, skeptical mind. The longer i think about this article, the more i think of it as a cheap shot. If someone gets better by saying stop to symptoms, visualizing a time before the illness and circling around a piece of paper with symbols printed on it, i may have questions, but ultimately good for them. If it works, it works. Belief and autosuggestion can help in healing. I would be too sceptical for this. But who am i to criticize someone who succeeds like that. The one problem i have is that it costs money.

Last weekend i talked to my marxist uncle, who is 87, and we both agreed that we live in a horrible time, but that we have to keep up the fight. He said, he has been doing this for almost 70 years, and even if the results have not been great, there is no reason to stop now.
So much respect for our movement elders. We really need to find a way not to create an ageist climate.

Have you read the book? I have and i completely disagree with Gillis, who calls the book an "abuse apologia". When in fact that is the critique Schulman tries to raise in the book. Too often conflict is called abuse, which in the end only will backfire. As i said, the book has many flaws, it is meandering, it pulls strange historical parallels, some of the examples feels gossipy, but what Gillis claims is not one of them.

Wow, that is one looong article. I will try to look into it. What i can say now is that when i read that book, i mostly agreed with its basic premise, yet didn't agree with many of the points it made. It's also not very well written, meandering in style. I read it and wished someone else took up the basic thesis and wrote a helpful book about it.
But parts of it are amazing, especially where it talks about ACT Up and not calling the police on community members.

2026-04-05 06:55:20 UTC

All those people who avoid conflicts as if it was the end of the world to instead opt for therapy-speak and self-loathing, you miss a huge opportunity for growth and for a much deeper intimacy.
Sadly the latest generation of "anarchists" are some of the most conflict-avoidant people that i have ever met. Which is a joke, if you think it through.
I recently read Conflict is Not Abuse by Sarah Schulman, and while i don't agree with everything in the book, its basic premise makes so much sense.

We should not be put in this situation to begin with. It is absurd. As far as i can tell, it gets urgent when the either the pain gets more severe or a fever develops. What would suck is if it's something that could have been treated better if caught early. But then again, would it be caught in this 10 minute time slots that we are awarded these days? That was a hypothetical. But what the pandemic continues to show is that in this crisis, when people had the opportunity to self-organize and not allow the state to bully them back into work, they caved and did as they were told. Worse. Even my "anarchist" friends fell for that bullshit.

I used to be an optimist, which i think as an anarchist you must be. Since you have to believe that people are willing to cooperate, act in solidarity with others & self-organise.
Put what the COVID-19 pandemic continues to teach me is that people cannot be trusted, their solidarity is limited, they rely on the state to fix things & to communicate in honest, not capitalism-driven ways.

People who continue to mask are often insulted as "germophobes".
First, to label it a phobia is of course ableist.
But i would agree call myself germocautious.
And with good reason.
Since the start of the ongoing pandemic one thing has been made painfully clear: People cannot be trusted not to spread their known or unknown germs.
Just one basic example.
If the pandemic should have taught us one thing it is this: When sick, stay home. But people did not even keep such a basic practice up.
See?

"As Gaza faces over three months of Israeli blockade, a group of 12 activists is sailing to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. The Madleen ship was launched by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition and initially planned to sail from Malta last month, but the group’s ship was damaged in a drone attack. The new mission includes the renowned Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who speaks with Democracy Now! live from the Madleen."

After debating back and forth i decided i needed to lodge a complaint with the supermarket chain from whom we ordered the food. I felt ambivalent about it, because i did not want to snitch out a particular delivery person.
But at the same time, this was one occasion of getting mocked by someone that i could track down. And the aggressive way this guy had done it, i am quite sure he mocks and intimidates others as well.
I am curious how they will respond.

2025-04-03 08:09:41 UTC

On Tuesday, i went to pick up our shopping delivery while wearing a #mask. The delivery person first stared at me in a mocking way, but when he walked away he turned around to shake his head.
On Monday, i felt ill, didn't know if i was coming down with an infection. This time i wore a mask not only to protect myself, but also others, not wanting to spread my bug.
In other words, i was being careful, even for the sake of that delivery person.

and evidence of a sense of entitlement from an uppity minority.
Whether it’s anger over the benefits bill or a bus having a priority wheelchair space, there’s a longstanding prejudice that disabled people are costly and demanding when all we are asking is to be able to live. In that way, the pandemic didn’t change negative attitudes towards disability – it just exacerbated them."

"It isn’t simply that the things that helped clinically vulnerable people to stay safe have gone – there’s pushback to the idea that we even deserve them. Simply wearing a mask ourselves in 2025 – let alone asking someone else to – is enough to get yelled at by a stranger in Tesco. It feels at times as if the pandemic unmasked (no pun intended) a blend of denial and resentment towards disabled people, as if our needs are simultaneously a reminder of a time society would rather forget, >

Thoughts on the latest Gez Medinger video on #LongCOVID, where he claims extended fasting as a cure?
I am not too happy about this.
I mean, Gez frames it carefully and recommends to discuss it with a MD first.
But what if I do not have a MD who is supportive.
This might help for some cases, and body types or constitutions, but I don't think this will help many people.
On the contrary. Many will crash hard and make their condition worse.

The country where i live did not even bother to approve #Novovax, even though there are many people who can't do mrna shots and even more others who had terrible experiences with it, including myself.
Of the neighboring countries, who do offer Novovax, France does not vaccinate strangers. Germany has no website where you can get the information. And not a fucking soul helps you for months.
Fuck everyone.
Fuck this, i don't even want to live anymore among you assholes.

2024-12-11 14:52:25 UTC

Finally after months of asking i was told about some pharmacies in Germany where they vaccinate #Novovax, but for the first one i checked all dates are booked until well into 2025. I now have a date in another pharmacy, where they do not guarantee if they will have it in house.
Even though i kept asking on every platform for people to tell me if they hear anything, no one did. Every one looking out for their own ass. This is vaccination darwinism.
I could scream.
