Ben c'est comme n'importe quelle pollution : c'est pas parce qu'il y en a un peu partout que c'est inutile de la modérer. Le moins est le mieux. Et en lisant le lien, c'est très clair ici.

I don't think they *want* for a paper based on their output to happen and be submitted. It would mean subjecting their output to scrutiny and evaluation by the mathematical community, loosening their grip on the narrative. Since what they are doing it a PR stunt, they certainly want to keep as much control as they can.

Des fois je me dit que sur Mastodon j'ai une bulle de résistance à l'IA gen, que peut-être le monde majoritairement est en extase et tout.
Aujourd'hui un étudiant m'a expliqué qu'il reprenait des études parce que sont job de développeur était devenu chiant en trois ans à cause de l'IA. J'ai l'impression qu'il était bien payé et qu'il a pu mettre de côté pour faire autre chose. Il est super motivé pour apprendre des choses.
Ça m'a fait ma journée (même si c'est dommage que son boulot ait tourné comme ça).

Do you understand that the person you answer is a specialist of the topic, and if I remember correctly has been investigating actual debris from Starlink satellites that fell on the ground (see https://thenarwhal.ca/space-junk-falling-50th-parallel/, even with a photo of her with space debris)?

#ESR Imaginons une situation hypothétique où, dans une future formation de profs, dans une UE susceptible d'accueillir un bout de formation sur la transition écologique, un collègue très actif dans le climato-scepticisme se positionnerait pour enseigner.
Qu'est-ce qui pourrait/devrait être fait pour éviter qu'il serve sa propagande de marchand de doute aux futurs profs ?

? With puts, I cannot loose more than the investment. The leverage effect makes for potentially large gains. It is a gamble, but I don't see what makes you say what you say.

Not dreaming, that is one of the symmetric space of positive curvature. I don't remember the isometry group, but it should be given in Eberlein's book (and Helgason's one too, but I found that one quite difficult to read). I am not sure it is exceptional, I think you can build OP^2 which is the exceptional one. Isn't OP^1 just a round sphere, like CP^1?

I think mathematics show that your argument is not what makes a field use preprint or not. Our papers have most of the time no urgency, we have among the longest publication-to-citation average time (papers stay relevant for decades, or even centuries), and yet mathematicians where among the first to use preprint, even before the internet was a thing.
They are incredibly useful as we get most papers we need to read without fuss (I always had an academic affiliation, but never access to all published versions of the papers I need).
