interesting to see how common it has become for people to replace religion with politics to define their moral code, blind to the fact that there is no moral code in the political arena

😂😂😂 it certainly gets us light years closer. to me, even with systems or philosophies designed to reduce abuse of power, it’s hard to imagine completely eradicating it because it’s rooted in deeply human tendencies: ego, fear, control, survival

2025-10-02 02:26:10 UTC

with any power comes abuse of it. is it possible for that cycle to stop as we look forward?

Agree, with the exception of the world watching someone die on video. We’re not made for that

2025-09-11 04:36:12 UTC

I can’t be the only one who feels like what we’re witnessing on the global stage is bigger than politics… right?
A 31 year old guy woke up this morning and went to work.. to model our right to debate.. and never got to go home to kiss his wife or kids again.
The world watched as he was assassinated. The outcome has been even more divisive, frankly terrifying rhetoric from so many American people. Some of which I’m close to.
I can’t help but feel uneasy about what this means for humanity.
The act itself.
The lack of empathy.
The divisiveness about how to respond to the loss of human life.
Maybe I’m losing it (note: I’m not), but what we’re collectively experiencing feels spiritual to me. Good vs evil.
Praying for Charlie Kirk, his wife and children, all those who watched him die for what he believes in, as well as the people responsible for his death.
You don’t have to agree with any of these people to say a prayer for them, too. We have to come together as humans first. It’s the only way through.

Anytime we are feeling emotionally dsyregulated (conflict, fear, discomfort, etc). When we are living in our fight or flight nervous system, our bodies are focused on survival. Our heart rate and blood pressure are heightened and our mental-emotional processing is stifled. Therefore, there’s no room for balanced processing or reflection. We must first get to a place where we are calm and connected to truly reflect on the situation that caused such dysregulation.

I couldn’t agree with you more regarding the unconscious mirroring that occurs in the therapeutic relationship, that is why a trauma-lens is critical, even when working with lower-risk clients. I very much hope to create deeper understanding in the field.

Agree with you on this. I’d add the caveat that trauma can (and often does) go far beyond overt child abuse. I like to think about trauma as an adverse response to something negative that happens in a person’s life that impacts their internal schema and their perception of their lived reality negatively. I.e, trauma isn’t what happens to us, but our neurobiological response to such events. Hope this makes sense. But to your point - child abuse is a silent epidemic in the US that must be adequately addressed for the betterment of society.

This TikTok madness and spectacle of an inauguration beg the age-old question - why would anyone be pro more government?
Are we not mortified yet?

Adopting a psychoanalytic perspective fosters deeper compassion and connection. Understanding that thoughts and behaviors are largely shaped by subconscious conditioning makes it easier to approach relationships—with yourself and others—with objectivity and empathy.
I’m grateful to have chosen the path as a lifelong learner in psychoanalysis. The more I learn, the better I can show up as a friend, partner, sister, daughter, and eventual parent.

What I’m working on is psychoeducation for high school/aged girls, so I don’t think the term anti-fragile would translate well in this context.
I haven’t heard of the term eustress. This is a super interesting concept, I’m excited to do some research. I can definitely relate to experiencing post traumatic growth, but we never hear it spoken about in therapeutic contexts. Thanks for offering this perspective

2024-12-10 05:10:09 UTC

Love this perspective. Consider my mind expanded this Monday evening.
I’ve been working on a project where I refer to “mental-emotional resilience” as a key indicator of mental health. It didn’t feel right, so today I changed it to endurance. Not sure about that either.
I love the idea of striving for something greater than merely “getting through” hard shit, I.e. displaying resilience, and instead repurposing the experience to create something productive/sustainable, I.e. anti-fragile (whatever that means in context of said “hard shit”)

Agree with you on this. The point I was making was that the study doesn’t prove that people are inherently evil when given access to power. Can see how my phrasing sounded absolute and appreciate the clarification.

Yes, when directed leadership, people have the capacity to do bad things- as we have seen historically. However, it is not an individual’s first nature to be evil, violent, bad (whatever synonym resonates) unless influenced. The current understanding of the study is that when given power, all people are bad, which is incorrect and harmful.

The phD who led the study rigged it to get the results he was after. A ton of issues with the study - the guards didn’t know they were subjects, he told the public there were no rules except no physical harm but he did a day of training to prime them to be aggressive, etc. highly recommend checking out the doc. Many of the subjects came back and share their POV

2024-11-21 21:32:45 UTC

Am I the only one who didn’t know that the Stanford prison experiment was a complete scam? Looking back, it was referenced constantly in my social psych lectured in undergrad. Now I understand that it’s only so well-known because Zambardo was manipulating the scientific community and media to make money & gain power. Shocking!
Important reminder to be critical of “science” until it can be proven as _science_
And highly recommend you watch the doc on Hulu if this is new info to you too.

She is aware that her alcoholism is rooted in early life and complex trauma. She’s seen therapists on and off for years. Gone to rehab, done everything she could with what she knew. Psilocybin has been clinically proven to mitigate dependency on substances & improve depression symptoms, so we are hopeful.

In my work specializing in women’s health & trauma, I view breathwork as the most powerful holistic healing modality to heal. But it’s all about whatever works for the individual, there’s no one size fits all model to healing. 🩵

In my experience, the impact of breathwork on my health & relationship with self has far exceeded balance and burnout. Not only does it allow us to shift from sympathetic to parasympathetic nervous system functioning, but it creates openings to altered states of consciousness, increased connection to our subconscious, and the creation of new & improved neural pathways.
Love the comparison to the volatility of bitcoin. Specifically your mention of the pause between the inhale & exhale and the power that space holds.

2024-08-29 05:30:24 UTC

Bubbling up this post I wrote a few months ago. You might notice that I put breathwork on par with Nostr and Bitcoin as it relates to potential for societal impact. I’m sure many of you will disagree with me. Please do. That’s why we’re here.
I believe breathwork is revolutionary in that, like Nostr and Bitcoin, it’s a freedom tool.
Connecting with our breath allows us to exit the matrix of suffering and small mindedness bred from chronic stress & fight or flight functioning. It serves as a vessel to unrealized expansiveness, creativity, and safety in our bodies. Breathwork created inside-out transformations. Although the science is sound, I often refer to it as magic.
Without breathwork, I wouldn’t be on Nostr fighting for a healthier society. I would still be hiding from the world. That alone is enough to convince me of its power.

The intersection between sound money and sound health must be adequately addressed for humans to continue to evolve.
There’s a mental health epidemic rooted in distrust, isolation, and moral corruption.
It’s more imperative than ever before that we return to the basics and remember how humans have thrived evolutionarily. We need courageous people to step up and help us remember who we are. We’re here to connect, create, and support each other in creating a more promising future for the future of our species.
That’s why #nostr is so exciting to me. That’s why #bitcoin is so exciting to me. That’s why #breathwork is so exciting to me.
The most complex questions often require the simplest of solutions. The answer is each other.
Fix the money, fix our health.
