That would be a hard no. You don't let the enemy in through the gates.

The big takeaway from #Clacton is that #ReformUK and "Gas 'em All" #Farage are finished. The defections from the Tories are their high water mark in the Commons, they've peaked in local government and we're on the downward side of the graph now.
The country now needs to start undoing the damage that he (it's him, it's always only been about him) has done over the last two decades or so.
Yes, that means #rejoinEU but it also means mending the hate reflex in society.

If I can't trust that the #Linux kernel won't be slop-free, looks like it's time to consider #BSD for the first time in three decades or so.
Therefore, I'm going to need some input.
Advice on which BSD for desktop use.
Will I be screwed in terms of gaming (my laptop has a 5070) via Steam/wine/Proton?

It seems it could have been a lot worse. The actual underlying numbers (grateful to Peter Kellner here) suggest the air is already going out of the #ReformUK balloon, they seem significantly down on last year's results in terms of proportion of seats won. Only two (so far) councils have been won by them - people are seeing their record in power and starting to turn against them. As it was with the BNP before, so it is with #Reform.

I do wonder what it is about the series of parties led by Nigel "Gas Them All" #Farage that always seems to attract the racist, white-supremacist, bigoted bad apples. It's so hard to identify a causal relationship between Mr "Himmler Was Right" and this sort of depravity.

After all, how else would you invoke a terminal program but by using its command?

I've no time for Badenoch’s policies and she is part of a generation of politicians - especially on the right - who lack the intellectual heft of those who have gone before - but I was disgusted to see Farage, who has done untold damage to the country, economically, socially and in our global standing, reach into the Trump misogyny playbook when speaking about her recently.
Disgusted but not at all surprised.

Appearances can be deceptive. On this occasion, however...

You know how #Farage claims to be anti-establishment...? #bullshit

Why is anybody surprised that GitHub (owned by Microsoft) is trying to foist CoPilot (owned by Microsoft) on users?
If you work in Free or Open Source Software, Microsoft are not your friend. They are anathema to everything for which we stand. This is just the latest version of embrace and extend that they've been running since the 1990s.
Take it from those of us who still bear thirty+ year old scars and avoid them like the plague.

The Multiface remains the greatest hardware peripheral ever created. I had the One (and latterly the version with the magic switch) and the Three.

I still have spectrum cassettes and 3" disks (the latter for the excellent 128k +3). If I can hook a tape player up, I'm in.
Even better if I can plug in my Multiface and POKE my way to infinite lives in Chase HQ...

Okay, #introduction time. I'm new to Fosstodon but not to the Fediverse. I work in #SysAdmin although everyone wants to say #DevOps now for the 20% salary bump that entails but really, I was automating everything and doing CD over twenty years ago, we just called it good practice back then.
