This is a long shot, but: does anyone have access to a Supermicro H11DST-B *version 2.x* motherboard?
We (@npub1ly6…kh0q) suspect that the only important difference with 1.x is a larger NOR flash for the firmware. If so, a little hot air action would allow an upgrade to Zen 2 CPUs, and get big perf/power-efficiency gains on a budget.
Boosts much appreciated!

Przepraszam, że się wtrącam, ale to co nazywasz GNU/Linux to tak na prawdę GNU/systemd/Linux -- choć ostatnio zwykłem na to mówić GNU+systemd+Linux

Friends! I'm looking for (remote) work in:
- systems programming of all sorts
- distributed systems
- performance engineering
- next-gen tooling and infra broadly speaking
I'm a software engineer with 20 years of experience. More about my work: https://radex.io/hire-me/
I'm very rarely available for work! You will not regret hiring me ☺️
(Boosts and introductions much appreciated!)

this has a strong «psst, hey kid» guy-in-trenchcoat-in-a-backalley energy -- but with old computers. love it!

something I'm missing from their virtualization framework is virtio-mem. On a dev machine, I generally want vms (and containers) to be able to use as much cpu and memory as they need (if they need that), but then idle at a small value.

to a certain extent, I understand the attitude of “hey, this is just a hobby project, I made it for free, don’t expect *anything*”. I too dislike the entitled attitude of users of open source stuff.
*but* the moment this “toy project” became wildly popular, he should have taken down the website and put a big fat warning on GitHub to scare away people who are not experts (but have at least two brain cells). It’s this part that’s, as you said — utterly negligent.

I'm looking for a C compiler that:
- is simpler and smaller than TinyCC
- is capable of compiling TinyCC
- is written in *very* simple C or a language simpler than C
- can plausibly support risc-v (I can add codegen myself, just can't have deeply hardcoded x86 assumptions)
- has a FOSS license
- is not GNU Mes
Does anything matching these criteria exist?

How it feels like to have found 256GB of forgotten-about DDR4 RAM in this economy (at @npub1ly6…kh0q / @npub1y9v…uzkc )

Time for a coming out:
I'm a Nix user now.
I use nix-darwin on my laptop. My home server runs NixOS. My Raspberry Pis run NixOS.
I help manage and maintain ~13 more NixOS machines at @npub1ly6…kh0q. A few of them are entirely my fault.
And if you ask me about it, I might even try to evangelize you!
Look what they've done to me! It took them 6 years to convert me, sure, but they got me!
