I look at cnbc pretty much every day to see what the headlines are. It's all spin. Here is an example.
10 year rates are blowing up, and after racing up to 5.0%, which is really bad, it came down to 4.96%, which is still really bad.
Yet the headline is this:
"Treasury yields ease as global borrowing costs tumble"
What?
Here are global borrowing costs this year and the past 5. Where's the tumble?

This is a really good point. Now if I can just find a problem that actually interests him.

Bought a car with a check. Bank tell me doing so is some kind of funny business and is questioning transaction (might even cancel the check)5. Same bank refused to finance the car bc of the mileage.
🤔
It is, btw, a car with the reputation of frequently lasting 300-400k miles more than it currenlty has. Also, it doesn't have an Internet connection.

In 2020 I did the first of two cash-out refis on my house below 3.5% to increase my bitcoin (I did it again in 2022). Then I used some of that bitcoin to purchase my land. When I sold my house, I split the remaining equity into my down payment on the new house and into bitcoin.
I can also at any time, pay off the mortgage on my new house. But I'm betting bitcoin continues to eat the dollar faster than the interest on the loan, socI have no incentive to do so.
I've been able to level up my life dramtically since 2017. I don't recommend strategies because everyone has different conditions, and as a GenXer, I was in a position to take advantage of the end of the fiat system.
The point is that bitcoin is an incredible asset that has allowed me to do things that would have been completely out of reach simply because it's awesome and my risk tolerance is very high.

What kind of world do you think we'll be living in if the fiat USD system failed suddenly?

I am 55, and every five years I re-evaluate my life. It has led to a string of changes, taking risks, buying #bitcoin, making more time for my family, growing a business and then being willing to walk away from it. My view is that you should be changing something big in your life every so often so that you are challenged to learn new things, especially as you age.
