Another great show Chris. Thanks for keeping it rolling.
It’s funny what you said about Umbrel, now that I run two nodes on Linux without any packaged support, I’m kind of addicted to it and wouldn’t want to run a node any other way.
I like knowing exactly what I’m running and being in control of updates myself.
The unexpected gift for me from Bitcoin was being introduced to the FOSS world and now I’m moving my whole digital life to it.

Is it just me, or does it feel like a kind of “lull before the storm” in Bitcoin right now. Not sure what the storm would be, a huge price spike, more hacks or some macro stuff? Or is it just pre election uncertainty?
Anyone else feel this?

@nprofile…etsy has been my AI provider for 18 months now and I keep coming back to them. They've recently added more layers to their private models and offer encrypted models running in TEEs.
Service is good, I even jumped on a call with the founder once.
It's excellent for trying new models quickly.
Currently I'm using it through Hermes, and it's going well.

It seems like an ongoing question for V4V content creators, how to make it sustainable. Are there any other creators whose model you like? Or anyone doing anything you think would work for TWIB?
Throw some ideas out to your listeners and see what comes back. There must be a way to keep your quality content coming.

You’ve played a few clips from Bitwise lately. When the ETFs first launched they put themselves out there as real Bitcoiners, not touching shitcoins and donating to FOSs developers.
But a lot of that has changed now so I’m a bit wary of them. They’ve got shitcoin ETFs and didn’t support devs in the way they originally said they would.
I’m very sceptical of any claims made by anyone claiming to be Bitcoin adjacent now, and this is another one.

Thanks. That's basically what I did and used Tails to keep it offline. That's the bit I'm trying to work out if there are any gaps, how "offline" is Tails, as I plugged in to another device and used the keyboard and screen to generate the words and checksum? Overly paranoid? Maybe, but we're all about the edge cases now aren't we.

My question last week was more about generating the seed phrase and checksum in an offline way.
I rolled the dice so can get the entropy offline, but wonder how to generate and verify the actual seed words and checksum. It seems like that part is harder to do in a truely offline way.
Do you have any tips on that?

Now that we’re all entropy enthusiasts, can you share some tips on how to create a seed 100% offline.
The best method I found was to roll dice and then create the seed phrase offline on Tails, which is then wiped after shutdown.
But I still wonder how “offline” that could be?
I saw another boost here talking about using a NixOS offline to do it.
Do you have any tips or shared experience in this area?

Do you know any more about this Chris?

I ran an experiment on the private models using Cline. This time I ran exactly the same queries through GLM-5-1. Once to the regular model, once to the TEE model. Performance in the TEEs just doesn't match that of the regular model. It kept getting stuck repeating the query again and again.
If I use the TEE models in the web app they're find, but through and IDE like Cline I can't get them to perform.
Perhaps a Cline issue, dunno?
I'd really like to connect to a private model through a harness.
Any suggestions?

OK, thanks for explaining. I understand the bit about the nodes being the gatekeepers and how that played out with Segwit.
So with mandatory lock in for BIP110 in August is a chain split inevitable?
And the key factor is how many nodes run BIP110, is that correct?
What happens if 10% of the nodes run 110 and 90% don't?
Does that mean we have essentially a hard fork, as BIP110 nodes will reject any blocks and transactions that non 110 nodes relay or broadcast?
Is that two separate chains and two separate (cough, cough), tokens?

Thanks for the signal Chris, as always. Can you help us understand the game theory for BIP110 in relation to mining.
If they have very low hashrate (<10%) can this still cause a disruption and potential chain split?
My initial thoughts were that they won’t get a significant amount of hash so it will just die on the vine. But the proponents of 110 are talking like they can still force a counter fork if they have minority hash.
Maybe I’ve got this wrong so can you talk us through this pls.

If there's one word I've heard thousands of times in my time in Bitcoin, it's permissionless. No permission required by anyone, for any use. The only boundaries are the consensus rules.
I've learnt so much from you over the years and I always considered you one of the good guys. It's really sad to see this from you. What happened man, what happened?
Bitcoin's not permissionless? Really? The word is a trope for scammers. Really?
Dude, you need to look in the mirror and go play with your kids.

There are lots of Bitcoin adjacent projects which we support because we want to, more for ideological reasons than practical ones.
But using @nprofile…etsy is not like that, over the past year here are my two practical, real world reasons for running PPQ and the value I've got from it.
1. Stopped using Chat GPT.
Protects my privacy and saved me $20/month. For my general non private queries I moved from Chat GPT to the PPQ web interface. It gave me access to lots of models, including the latest releases of frontier models. Offers better value, you only pay for what you use. This can go both ways, but at least you know where you are and don't just suddenly run out of tokens or get downgraded to a slower model.
2. Stopped using Cursor
Same as above, I had a KYC account tied to a fiat payment method, so Anthropic and Cursor could know exactly who I am and what prompts I issue. So I found myself guarded and very careful about what I put in there. So I moved to Cline and connected to PPQ using my API key.
Using Cline is very similar to Cursor, but I had to give no personal information and my connection to the LLM is protected by a VPN and the anonymity of paying with Lightning on PPQ.
I still don't put personal information into Cline or PPQ, but can talk a bit more in my prompts in general terms.
I'm just a Bitcoiner with an interest in Open Source software and AI, and have found PPQ.ai to be one of the best tools in the space.
Give it a go for yourself.

Has AI affected my job?
Yes, in a positive way. I am self employed and take care of clients’ website and e-commerce infrastructure.
AI allows me to do way more than before. An example is testing, I use AI to write scripts to automate testing, saves me hours each time.
AI helps me troubleshoot issues on tools I have very little experience with.
And this is just the beginning, I haven’t even gone deep into the Agent world yet.
AI is going to disrupt and create opportunities at the same time. It’s up to all of us to make sure we’re in the right place to benefit.

Hey Justin.
I listened to your interviews on TFTC and CD recently and found them really useful in a practical sense about how to get started with running OpenClaw in a secure way.
Are you publishing your videos here on Nostr for people to view after the fact? Time difference makes it hard to join live.
Thanks from New Zealand.

I'm curious, what's the business model of PPQ.ai? Do you take a small % of the LLM fees?
And how many on your team?
I listened to your interviews on Bitcoin Audible and Citadel Dispatch, you probably talked a bit about that but I'd like to find out a bit more.
I'm telling everyone about the service, and a few people are jumping on it but most are stuck in the big platforms.
Thanks

Using PPQ actually removes the need for credit cards and improves privacy. I was recently using Cursor but have now installed Cline (with no ID required) and connected it to my PPQ via API keys.
Better value and no KYC.
If you're used to using Cursor, Cline feels very familiar.

Well here’s just what you need, all of you! A Bitcoin meetup in New Zealand.

OpenClaw Question: What are the pros and cons of self hosting OpenClaw on a server in a home LAN?
After looking at my options, I thought I’d try hosting the agent on a Pi at home. But a friend pointed out malware and security vulnerabilities and suggested a VPS.
What would you suggest? (And can you recommend a good VPS service suitable for this task)

Great to see but be careful of token usage. I just burned through $15 of tokens in two prompts. I think it was because I was trying to get clever and uploaded a .json blob of a previous conversation to give it context and it sucked it up in a flash, along with my sats.
Good learnings 😃

+1 for ppq.ai
This has been my go to AI for about a year now.
It’s built by a Bitcoiner, you get discount when you pay in Sats and if you pay over LN, there’s zero KYC and the built in privacy of Lightning.
Use it with a VPN (like Mullvad, also paid for in Sats) and offers pretty good privacy for general use.
You can connect via a browser or with API keys. I use it for general topics or learning, not for anything private is sensitive.
You can connect to all the latest models and it’s really good value as you pay per query (PPQ).
There are more and more online services like this that accept sats and if we’re going to get the world using Bitcoin as money, these are great places to support the global P2P Bitcoin economy.

Kind of like outsourcing the creation of educational content but with zero risk to you.

I have a serious question for you. I recently listened to an interview with the Samurai wallet dev who has been sentenced to 5 years prison for writing open source software.
In the interview he talked about how his constitutional rights were not respected and how hostile the judge was.
They had no evidence of an actual crime being committed, so the charges are for “conspiracy” to commit crimes. Basically, as they were “aware” that their software could be used for illegal purposes, they’re guilty of conspiring to commit that crime.
This is pretty scary, does this mean any open source dev could be guilty of a similar crime?
With your background in FOSS and Linux, I’d like to hear your thoughts on this.

@nprofile…etsy is a go to for Bitcoiners using AI, it's the ideal "first layer" for AI. Easy web interface, no accounts or KYC, payable with sats on LN and really good value as you only pay as you use it.
In the interview with Guy you mentioned connecting to Goose using your API keys. Could this replace something like Cursor?
I use Cursor for my budding career as a vibe coder, but the KYC and fact that everything I enter is going into their logs and training makes me a bit reluctant.
Can PPQ replace Cursor? Can you tell me how? @nprofile…etsy

I’ve gave them the same amount of fiat again last Xmas, and explained how it was now worth much less in Sats.
When I see them I check in and ask them how their magic internet money is going.
One of them is right into it, so I send him Sats and a quest to spend them at a local merchant.

I pay for my haircuts and always support cafes and restaurants who accept it. If I find a merchant who accepts Sats in a place I visit, I make a point of going there and spending sats.
I also pay for as many online services as I can in Sats: Proton, Mullvad and ppq.ai are examples. And boosts of course! This is how I do it.

What do I think of BIP444?
If you’re interested, read the original BIP, understand it properly then make your own judgement. Too many Bitcoiners are just listening to their favorite influencer and picking a side to support.
The BIP makes no reference to a decision being made to determine if arbitrary data is objectionable. The BIP lists 7 Op Codes or conditions which would further restrict arbitrary data at the consensus level.
I think Matthew Kratter picked that ball up and ran with it himself for some shock value.
This BIP seems unlikely to have legs, but if we’re going to debate it we should at least understand it properly.
My 2 sats worth.
