Things in space and time

“Communism” and “Capitalism” are dead labels from arguments four generations old. It’s only ever been rich people, their minions, and their scams. It's not complicated. I like education, individual rights, social good, voting, and regicide. I avoid acronyms and -isms, but love a good ambiguous remark.

Hey church fucks. You want redemption? Prove it. Dump these MAGA cocksuckers out on their asses. Then mind your own goddamned business.

This is for the people who went after my family. You think you were fighting the good fight, but you were ignorant and evil scumbags. If you believe in hell, consider yourself already in it. If you’ve left your shitty cult you still have to redress before you can atone.
You were a vital part to the fascist movement in Oregon over the past 40 years. You weren’t “on the other side”, the fascist theocrats ran you like a KGB cell. You must pay up, shut up, and go. Vulnerable people can’t trust you.

This is why I think textbooks should be put together by consortiums of universities, who pay the professors for their time and make the result available for free, or close to it, as ebook and print on demand.
The state of the art for most university classes doesn’t change that much, but there should be some variety in approaches and pedagogical style.

If you write a really good one, get paid for fucks sake, just don’t sell it to Springer or whoever.

Personally, me squinting at my thumb as I sight off into the distance says 40 years is about right, with 50 years as the outside of the “hrrrm” bars. I’m okay with 50 years, but no longer.
Academic textbooks, however, should selected for mandatory licensing by the Department of Education, the authors paid up front, and the work entered into the public record.

Then propose some compromise. For art and authorship, 30 years is not long enough, which is why Ezra Klein floated it to ratfuck the idea. 50 years is probably a little too long according to me, but 90 years plus congressional extension is ridiculous.
Can we say 50 years? If your book hasn’t had traction in that time it’s not going to get any more unless it’s at the ebook library in perpetuity.
Patents are another thing entirely.
