Good night nostr, it was an enjoyable day, even though it was overcast and a bit rainy the whole day. Our trip to a new plant nursery was fun, and of course i came home with a few plants. The weather prevented us from finishing the front porch railings today, so maybe tomorrow we can finish that. Anyway, yall have a good evening friends. #homesteading

We just got back from a plant sale, hosted by the Native Plant Society. I found this dwarf barbados cherry (aka wild crepe myrtle) and couldnt resist bringing it home. I tasted one of the fruits and decided it was mine. #permies #gardening #BarbadosCherry

When i took anatomy classes, the digits are counted from the "anatomical position", which is a body standing upright and facing you, with palms of hands facing out. The thumb is digit #1, and big toe is digit #1.

Ok, we cut the metal posts to length, and got them set in concrete. These will be the railings for the front porch, which rarely gets used, so its ok if they are not perfect. After the posts set up, we'll attach some handrails and call it done. #homesteading #AmateurWork

Good morning nostr, this morning i'll be working a volunteer shift at the church kitchen, then catching up on things around here. We've been going on our daily Gator rides with the dogs, just little drives around our property. I try to notice what's growing during the different seasons, but its not always the same thing. I think certain seeds require certain conditions to sprout, regardless of season. And when the conditions are perfect for that seed, then and only then will it sprout. I have gone several years without seeing a plant, and think it has completely died. But then there it is again, in its own time. Anyway, yall have a great wednesday, enjoy your coffee, and do your work with a happy heart. #coffeechain

One of the benefits of volunteering at our local resale shop is you get to shop after your shift, without the presence of the general public. Yesterday after my shift i bought this neat french press, which caught my attention cuz it felt very heavy and looked like new on the inside. Turns out its a Freiling, apparently a high end press. Double walled and will last forever. I looked it up on Amazon and its over $100. Not a price i would pay for a french press, but i snagged it for $4. #Volunteering

We have some guys doing a few projects around the house, so the sound of saws and hammers will start soon. I'm still busy with watering trees and shrubs, mainly cuz we have lots of them that we planted in the last 1-3 years, so they dont have mature root systems yet. I want them to go into winter well hydrated. I took a day off the volunteer work to get caught up here at home, and glad i did. #asknostr #multisig
Am i the only person who uses multisig that is concerned about pubkeys being exposed during a multisig spend? It seems like every week now, there's a new bug or a new hack, and it seems like the pubkey thing would be ripe for something like that. I've tried to find answers or ways to avoid this danger, but all i see are some prorocols that are kinda obscure, or that most popular wallets dont support. I realize that as of now, its a privacy issue, but hackers seem to be moving very quickly. And as bitcoiners, it seems like more of us would be worried about this. Maybe i'm wrong and its more of a concern that i'm aware of.

Good morning nostr, its a crisp 50 degrees, and we'll get a high of 70 today, perfect weather finally. Later today we might go visit the Czech Festival in town. They have some neat demos of old-time tools and equipment, and we like to see the sawmill demo, with these massive blades. Not sure what else i'll be doing later, but i need to get some eggs ready to take to church tomorrow. The hens are upping their game again, so we have lots of extra eggs right now. Its been years since i've had to buy eggs at the store, and i'm grateful. Yall have a great saturday, enjoy your coffee, and remember that today is a gift. #coffeechain

Good night nostr, i'm ready to call it a good day. I worked outside mostly, transplanting and seeding, then it started raining so had to quit. Yesterday we were at the store and saw an example of 2 adolescent boys being very disrespectful to their mother. I think young men need male discipline, not necessarily physical, but some discipline from an older male. I remember hearing an episode by Jack Spirko, about young delinquent elephants. They went rogue after all the older males were culled, since the older bulls had always knocked the younger ones out of musth when they started getting violent or out of line. The older males knew from experience that violence against humans or rhinos would bring trouble to the herd. They disciplined the young males. Anyway, just some thoughts i had today. Yall have a good evening friends. #homesteading

Good morning nostr, its a great day and i'm almost ready to get going. Still too dark to go check the chicken coops, and i'm not done with my coffee. Later i need to check the guest cabin, then throw out some daikon radish seeds. Forecast calls for rain today, but of course we wont count on it, but i'll throw some seeds out just in case. Yall have a great wednesday, enjoy your coffee, and do your work with a happy heart. #coffeechain

Good morning nostr, its monday again, time to make a little progress on the daily to-do lists. After the morning chores we need to pick up a few things in town, then i want to throw out some more daikon radish seeds everywhere. Daikon seems to do better in cooler temps, like most other things. The chickens and rabbits love the stuff. Anyway, i need to finish my coffee and start the day. Yall have a great monday, enjoy your coffee, and do your work with a happy heart. #coffeechain

Its been an easy, kinda lazy sunday afternoon. After church we came home and had some fantastic venison cheeseburgers, then i did a few chores before making the executive decision to simply enjoy the rest of the afternoon. Lucy loves to sit on the swing with me. #countrylife #homesteading #SimplePleasures

Good morning nostr, and happy sunday. Today we have church, then will just hang around here i think. Yesterday i planted a bag of sunchokes that a friend gave me. Probably not the best time of year to plant them, but i'll give it a chance since i have them. Supposed to be super hardy, even invasive, we'll see. Yall have a great sunday, enjoy your coffee, and remember that today is a gift. #coffeechain

Good morning nostr, and happy friday. I've noticed that i'm waking up a bit later, i guess cuz daylight is coming later and later, and my body is adjusting. So today we'll be doing outdoor maintenance, mowing and cleanup mostly. Weather should be clear and warm, so we can make some progress. Yall have a great friday, enjoy your coffee, and remember that today is a gift. #coffeechain
