He's actually quietly been an out gay voice for a LONG time, not making huge noises but exerting influence when he can in that very measured, not-quite-closeted way that a lot of gay men who got to those positions and got themselves entrenched have.
I'm not saying he's got my undiluted support, but I put him in a similar tier (though LOWER, of course) as the One True Batman.

Also deadheading is, uh, basically free?
And NYC has been doing this stuff for Broadway for literally most of my life ('theater raffle'), just not usually for the opera. It's just not a story!
But they also want to point out that Mamdani has influencers talking him up! And sometimes influencers can be paid! (Not, actually, his, which they admit somewhere deep in the articles).

I genuinely think it's kind of funny that he's publicly talking about where specifically he wants to put snipers, because that's such a jarring disconnect...
But I mean, you're half right. The other half is he wants his name to be spoken 'forever' and thinks by screaming 'national security ' people will let him
Based on what he's said recently, I think only now is he actually all the way into 'actually I can just do -anything-', which is not a great sign

I feel like I've heard the stuffed animal one before, it was 'fine'. I don't think I ever heard the other one before, I liked it a little more?
Actually I have a weird one for you- I really do like this song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyXccqTlhoI
but the weird part to me is it sounds SO MUCH like a cover, like a 'generic james taylor song' (complimentary, the man has had a few solid ones).
Do you get that vibe as well? I've been told I'm crazy and my friends don't hear it.

If you mute it and put other music over it, it's kinda cool, good work with ( basically) Ren faire people. Contortionist et all, with good makeup.
Also my current pop culture music indulgence is the latest Orville Peck, whose music I have -not- traditionally liked ( not big on country), "already gone". Found myself humming it between Floyd

In theory the president is a figurehead, a tiebreaker, and someone to do pr with and shake hands.
The supreme court basically has no constitutional function, supposed to just be one guy.
I am not saying I actually think the constitution as written would work wonderfully well and be democratic, but we're so far from it we can't see it on a clear day

Wow, that was an article.
Talk about taking things at face value.
Everyone who works at turning point is a deeply religious christian who just wants the best for america and they're all deeply saddened because of kirk and their deep emotional feelings about him.
Just...absolutely a bold face 'This group of fine people on both sides' moment

I only very recently rewatched the corruptor and I had kinda forgotten how good it was. Fat definitely acts circles around marky mark, but it might be MM's actual best acting job, and he's not hard in the eyes. It definitely is a surprisingly good one.
The movie I adore with mark though? The Big Hit. Absolutely required viewing for the cast just chewing all the scenery. So stupid, so funny.

Trump -talks- about Obama, but he complains about jokes at his expense from 2009, and he's still trying to change decisions that were made in the 1980s!
It's a huge thing that he simply cannot allow himself to be wrong. So every opinion he has ever had, every fight, not matter how small and petty, he must secretly have accidentally been correct.
And that's why the aircraft carrier towers have to move.
And why solar power can't work.
And tarrifs are good.

Mostly because he had this interaction of like '*screamed racial slur* *screamed homophobic slur* *screamed... something maybe someone's name*-> *far more normal tone of voice*nice dress lady, green really looks good with your hair color-> *screaming how the government is going to kill him*

He has no appeal, he can't speak out that much against trump because the crazy old man is that petty, so there is no way he can reality warp his own history.
Flat out, people don't want to believe him.

Also yes I have said at least 20 times to you specifically, I fully agree, everyone hates Vance.
And it's not even -interested- hate. None of that fascinated disgust. Just a vague 'ugh'. When you think of him, vague lip curl and distaste.
I do think the current 'setup' is Rubio takes all the Israel influence stuff, trucking trump, he was just an old confused man (insert anti semetic shit to taste), and 'not white' being a factor.
Vance was always against..etc

Absolute funniest part of this whole thing is trump is 100% behind inherited positions of power, landed gentry, and just moving titles and seats down families....
Except he can't stand his elder sons, so refuses to groom them as successors.
He is definitely 'I take the sun with me when I die', but likes other people just appointing their children absent qualifications. Not his, though!

I wasn't expecting to get to furious at people saying things about how he fell into trump's orbit and turned bad over the past decade.
Then they claim he was such a force for good in the 90s, or 00s.
When he was furiously attacking gay and black people? How about when he was going after women for speaking in public.
If he was ever good, he hid it very well. Just because you happen to agree with him saying shit about trump a decade ago doesn't mean he wasn't awful before.

Trump is hilariously fine with it, but very adamant about the 'And I can't be audited ever and neither can my kids' thing.
Which to be clear, there is not any way in hell to stop that from being retroactively changed. I have no idea why he thinks that is possible, but there's a senate hearing going on today where they claim it's not blanket immunity, it is something that looks exactly the same but sounds different...
Tha'ts all trump cares about, though.

I also think at least a few they didn't even negotiate with but just assumed they would be fine with it.
I love that we're down to Vanilla Ice (the 'headliner' of the lip synced, pre recorded, badly audio-layered, and almost hilariously underpopulated superbowl halftime alternative show, I ASSUME he's going to actualy continue to be there), and Flo Rida (who I haven't heard anything about, yet, so maybe he's not gotten around to declining).
I like that Mili Vanilli noped.

They actually don't.
Look, I'm not saying charlie kirk was some Brilliant Revolutionary Genius, he was just a photogenic mostly charismatic huckster.
But they actually don't have a lot of those, esp with media training and without GIANT skeletons in their closet. There's just not a replacement lined up. They have to rebuild an audience for one from scratch.

What would you recommend for a simple basic windows PDF reader that I can just...set down with someone who doesn't know much about computers and will 'just work' and not...have to deal with anything?
This is not me being snarky or anything, I'm just trying to get a simple set and forget. Minimal editing would be nice, but emphasis on -functional- and unintrusive (it's not for me, so fiddliness is the big showstopper).

I just ran straight into the pdf issue earlier today, trying for a simple task of 'basic pdf reader'.
Like, I have not been a fan of Adobe for decades but at least Reader used to be no fuss no muss.
And now ...Lord.
And it started because the windows/word built in one is, at best, semi functional now, because it tries to OCR then AI-geb everything, and does a worse and slower job than oce tech from 2010 (literally).

I honestly think it's a mistake to think that they believe, or even really care about, onshoring manufacturing jobs.
It's possible some believe it, but I don't think that was ever the goal.
I think the real goal is to get 'most americans' so scared for basic care- housing, health, and (to a lesser degree) food, as well as police state things ('we will deport dissidents'), and make that the new normal. Coupled with heavy surveilance, and someone to blame, to make everyone comply.

At this point 'far left' seems to currently be code for 'obeys laws' so we're pretty far beyond the looking glass.
But it's been very clear that they generally just make up things that frankly a lot of people would support and assert that democrats are for them- like when they tried to make a case that democrats were supporting a big push for UBI, or a nationwide abortion legalization (both supported by most voters). I'm still surprised we got an effective repeal of DOMA.

I actually started thinking, 'well, smoke detectors aren't that complicated I bet you could ' and that way lies crazytown.
I mean, technically it's true but considering how important it is, this feels deeply in the 'do not fuck with established tech' pile.
Still, annoying that this is an area they are being weird about, sorry to hear it.

Jokes are hard- I have a lot of sympathy (generally) for comedians, especially struggling or new ones. But sometimes, things just aren't funny, and you can't land that joke. People at the time didn't do a ton of jokes about a lot of difficult times and struggles (mostly around civil rights!). HOnestly even trans comedians I haven't heard many decent ones lately.
Just... maybe wait a bit? THere's a reason 'too soon' is a common response to a joke falling flat.

Always reminded of this from Tales of the City on valentine's day- Michael's valentine's day resolutions.
1 I will not call anyone nellie or butch, unless that is his name.
2 I will not assume that women who like me are fag hags.
3 I will stop expecting to meet Jan-Michael Vincent at the tubs.
4 I will inhale poppers only through the mouth.
5 I will not spend more than half an hour in the shower at the Y.
