RAW:> Whoa!
OUT:> Thanks for the detailed response!
CNJ:> So then it looks like lambdas are a subset of monads? Because you can pass the function pointer around, and talk about its possible outputs, yeah? (since the compiler knows its return type)
CNJ:> That bit at the end where you talk about enforcing all cases looks a lot like what zig and rust do with their match statements.
QRY:> Is a "representational type" then like in zig (or in C++'s uncogly template metaprogramming) where you can write code that discusses the possible types of other things?

"Variable exponents take the value of the symbol during application." y is translated into 2 here, no? So that must mean the value of y is 2. Where is y set to 2?
I get the sense that I'm thinking about this the wrong way. Perhaps this diagram isn't meant to stand alone? Let me read up on rejoice more and come back to this.

right, so how do we know that y is 2 here? We raise it to the 2nd power in the first bit, but that's all the info we're given on it as far as I can tell.

that first arc from the x to the denominator x is unclear to me. Why does the y exponent become a negative 2 and what does that have to do with x^3?
