You are the sole maintainer. Now, being maintainer doesn't mean you have full control because the code is open source. All the other knots devs could leave or fork off. Is that why you're saying it was never "just a Luke project?"

I was referring to playing Russian Roulette, usually done with a revolver that holds 6 bullets. What the exact odds are for AI disaster, I do not know. But even if the odds are small, it's still a big deal.

One way I think about it is akin to Russian roulette: 1/6 chance you die. Not a big chance. Most likely you won't. Overwhelmingly likely you won't. Therefore, just go for it. Right?

So you're just asserting AI can't act, and the definition is not related to any argument supporting your assertion? That's fine if that's the case, I'm just wondering why you think an AI can't act.

Listening to users has always obviously been a critical part of core's mission. The fact that they weren't doing it means they are bad stewards of the project, at best. Frankly, the fact that they stopped listening just long enough to sneak this in, and then express interest in listening, makes me suspect it's malicious.

#Knots Is signed by 3 devs. It's a myth that Luke is the only dev. It's true that he is the only maintainer, but open source software can always be copied by other devs - so typically only one maintainer is needed. If the maintainer is a tyrant, the others will fork the project.

Some people have asked me recently: What is an "economic node?" It's a #Bitcoin #node that is directly involved in a monetary transaction. Here are four ways that a node can be directly involved in a transaction:
1. Creating a transaction. This is often called "transaction coordination." You need to know if you've got money in your wallet before you can send.
2. Broadcasting the transaction to the bitcoin network. (You can add some privacy by doing this with your own node.)
3. Verifying that you actually received funds. For the average bitcoin user, this is by far the most important thing you can do with your node. If you rely on others to tell if you received anything, they could trick you.
4. Mining. Miners need to see the previous blocks, and if they want to earn fees then they need to see the pool of new transactions (AKA mempool).
A node can also be indirectly involved in a transaction by distributing new transactions to other nodes, and filtering out bad transactions. This filtering is the main issue between #core v30 and #knots.

"If you are a user of LLM systems that use tools (you can call them “#AI agents” if you like) it is critically important that you understand the risk of combining tools with the following three characteristics. Failing to understand this can let an attacker steal your data.
"The lethal trifecta of capabilities is:
"1. Access to your private data—one of the most common purposes of tools in the first place!
2. Exposure to untrusted content—any mechanism by which text (or images) controlled by a malicious attacker could become available to your LLM
3. The ability to externally communicate in a way that could be used to steal your data"

Satoshi was not the best coder, but he was an amazing "Bitcoin architect," applying knowledge from other disciplines. I think in the future, Bitcoin development needs a formal process to get input from non-coders who understand economics, law, etc.

Dang I created the formula wrong. I think it should be 2025 minus year you bought

2025-09-29 23:31:54 UTC

How to figure out your #Bitcoin IQ:
((Year you bought - 2009)*7)±100
You choose plus or minus based on honest self assessment, but you gain higher social status the farther you are from 100, in either direction.

Szabo has a degree in computer science and a degree in law. He says:
"illegal content in a contiguous standard format, thus readily viewable by standard software, is more likely to impress lawyers, judges, and jurors, and thus is legally more risky, than data that has been broken up or hidden and thus requires specialized software to reconstruct. Such demos would be part of convincing these legal decision-makers that a defendant node operator had knowledge of the content."

And remember, this issue is not 100% technical and cannot be fully understood using technical arguments only.
