Mmm this is my thoughts too. Like I know I can use loops but i dont think Im gonna feel very satisfied by that.
Atm I have my eyes on a Akai APC Key 25 MK2 because it looks like it has a launchpad? Which seems like a good idea for beats etc?

Can anyone here into #MusicProduction help me out?
I think I'm gonna go with #Garageband to learn music production. I'm completely new to this, though I do know how to play piano to a moderate level.
If I wanna make music, am I better off getting a #MIDI keyboard for playing chords on? I know I can use my laptops keyboard, but thus far thats proving kinda a pain.
Thoughts?

Back when AI started becoming a thing, people were asking: "what's the point in art or creation anymore if we can just proompt it?"
The funny thing is- 3 years in? REAL art made by REAL people is more valuable and luxurious feeling than ever before.
When we're prisoners to an internet ran by tech billionaires shoving generative slop down our throat 24/7, the work of artists is more special than ever. #art #NoAI #FuckAI

Anyone know of any #trans vocal tutors that teach online? I wanna try and find a singing voice that suits my gender, one that gives me euphoria. Any recs? Boosts welcome pls 💖 #lgbtqia

In other news: in my unbelievably cishet, white VERY conservative home town... I hosted my very first queer event the other day.
2 people came. 7 people messaged the page for more info (it's a vetted event for safety). A third were too scared to attend.
Next time we have a few more who said they'd come too!
But god damn, it felt so fucking special hosting this mega radical liberatory space in the middle of the hellscape that is my home town. #LGBTQIA

Ok, seasoned #music listeners:
How do I get better at discovering new music? After switching to #Qobuz , I've kinda stopped using it all together. On Spotify, I used to use its "radio" feature on my playlists. In the old days, I'd discover a fair bit of music through that. More recently not though.
But Desktop Qobuz has no such features, so it has me stuck in my playlists. How do I branch out? I'm lost!!! I dont want my only source of new music discovery to be instagram 😭

well that’s just the thing! Mum and I bought a thermometer for the oven, and it looked like it was fine. I swear big baking just puts in the wrong instructions sometimes 😂

Does anyone have much experience with #DIYHRT using gel?
Most people I know go for injectables but that’s not something I’m comfortable doing. Gels or patches are though.

as developers, we underestimate the influence we have over the world. City planners and architects dictate how accessible the physical world is, just like developers influence the #accessibility of the internet.
The cruel irony is, a lot of us #disabled folk flock to the internet, as it can be more accessible than irl... Only to be met with the exclusionary architects we sought to avoid.
Learning the guidelines isn't that hard. Often times it even helps you improve your code. #disability 2/

2025-11-23 23:54:08 UTC

How some developers react when you talk about accessibility is depressing. Its treated as an unimportant sidequest.
I hate to say, Ive only just started learning about accessibility guidelines. But damn, Im determined to implement them into everything I do now, Including the #FOSS project I'm working on.
I spoke with a maintainer about adding an accessibility feature to their project. They said theyd merge it but only if it was optional? 😫 We can and must do better #disability #programming 1/

For fucks sake, what the fuck. What is this "wah, broad tent" bullshit. These mfs would have a broad tent with hitler in it istg.

Like in this interview Stephen fry basically disavows the trans advocacy charity Mermaids, and he says that he “feels for trans people” but that he knows and loves both trans people and Jk Rowling and that they shouldn’t be at each others throats 🥺 and that they should play nice.
I absolutely detest it.

2025-01-12 15:22:00 UTC

How do my #trans siblings handle allies that you feel aren’t doing enough, but you can see they are trying and want to try?
Idk I’m dealing with something difficult rn. A couple of weeks ago my mom watched that new interview between Stephen Fry and the right wing channel “Triggernometry”.
My mom thought it was a great interview and wanted to watch it with me… it then became very apparent how little she understands what I go through as a trans person, and ngl it really really hurts.

2024-11-22 21:25:23 UTC

Does anyone here know if any towns and cities in the #UK that are #trans and #queer friendly that aren’t the most expensive places on earth to live?
Like I’m so sick of all the happening places for trans people being London, Manchester, Brighton and Edinburgh. These places are all so god damn expensive that it’s out of reach for most of us.

If anyone wants any help getting into medicine particularly, HMU. I can help you figure out what qualifications you'll need, and help you get them.
I can help a little with Nursing as well, because I looked into applying for that.
I applied to medical school years ago, ended up going to PA school, but I know a fair bit about the system and would love to help.
I also know a fair bit about being a SEND student in this field, so again, HMU if anyone needs anything <3

One of the most horrific things about being #disabled is it often feels like our effort, our blood sweat and tears counts for fucking nothnig.
We spend a life time burning ourselves out into oblivion, pushing ourselves above and beyond our limits, making ourselves sicker.
We do this to try and get what any other abled person can get with a tenth of the effort. And often times, we don't even get that.
It makes me feel like sometimes I shouldnt even bother.

Hate that #pinterest is so badly infected by the #AIArt plague. Ugh. Just give me real content, I beg of you

Like genuinely why??
It's so tiring and upsetting to be living in a world where people are happy, ecstatic even, to catch a disease that could fuck them up for life.
I dont even know what the fuck to do anymore, is everyone really that stupid? I dont understand it.
It's pretty fucking simple, you absolute idiots:
1. Its NOT like the common cold OR flu (flu is bad enough!!!!)
2. It's airborne
3. Mask the hell up.
4. Dont breathe in people's faces when symptomatic (see .3)
5. GET VACCINATED

2024-10-08 19:53:42 UTC

I'm pretty annoyed RE my #COVID infection.... I think I know who I caught it from. A friend of mine spotted me on campus and walked up to me while my mask was off, and by the time he was in my face I realised he had covid symptoms.
Like why do people lack basic fucking germ theory knowledge?! It's 2024, and IMO, its incredibly fucking rude to breathe in the face of anyone while youre symptomatic with any contagious disease!!!!

I don’t know what #demure means. I just heard it in a couple of TikTok’s and now I’m inserting it into my own conversations until it feels right, like a machine learning algorithm, as an attempt to sound funny and relevant.
Very mindful.
Very demure.

yeah, I'm not sure how fussed I am about the publishing bit tbh... Though I dont want to skimp on rigorous standards and quality. The sort of thing I have in mind rn is a longitudinal study, which would be interesting.

It'd be so cool to conduct a survey and do a blog post, or even write a paper and just publish it as a blog post with my findings.
If academic ableism shuts me out of academia, I'd hate to think that it would spell the end for my ability to research, discover and better understand things that we dont know yet.

2024-08-10 23:14:28 UTC

#academic Mastodon pls help me out.
I wanna do research with a social science lens. But I also dont wanna do it under a university, I'd like to do it independently. Does anyone know of any good resources on conducting #research on your own?
How would I handle things like ethics? Would it be possible to get published?
I feel like this could be fun and interesting, but I'd want to do it right and ethically.

So frontbencher Yvette Cooper ordered #Labour MPs not to attend anti fascist demonstrations. God, couldnt have the #LabourParty looking like it's against fascism now, could we?! That would be absolutely awful /s
I fucking hate these people so so much. Absolutely ghoulish and spineless. Especially given a lot of the front bench credit the cooling down of the riots to their police efforts and not the anti fascist protestors.
