Hund

An adequately old slow-tech philosopher and computer nerd from Sweden. I enjoy things like {Gentoo,Alpine} Linux, {Open,Net,Alpine}BSD, text-based software, minimalism, speciality coffee, the outdoors and running.

PS. I'm cautious with how many users that I follow. Please don't take it personal if I don't follow you.

Thanks! I'll check them out. :)

I'm now running Alpine Linux with Plasma and Wayland on my ThinkPad T14 G1.
While I like i3, I wanted something that handles fractional scaling better than X11 and i3 on this stupid combo of screen size and resolution (1080p @ 14"). I must say that Plasma with Wayland works really good for this!
I also wrote about how easy it is to install Alpine Linux and a DE like Plasma on my Swedish blog:

I can understand the proof of concept, that you hack something for the fun of it.
I was thinking about day to day usage. I still see 'regular' users who "root" their phones. I'm curious why, as I can't see any valid reason to turn your phone into a even larger security risk than it already is.

2025-12-26 23:14:08 UTC

Why do people still "root" their Android phones?

Men frågan kvarstår dock.

Här är länken till Agria.
https://www.agria.se/hund/artiklar/sjukdomar-och-skador/skadestatistik-hund-i-naturen/
PS.

I have a laptop computer with a 13" screen with a 1080p resolution. Is there any way possible to make it remotely useable?
The text is tiny at 100% scaling. At 200% it's way too big. And with fractional scaling it's so blurry that it hurts my eyes to read the text.

Any night hikers here? How do you handle the fear of the dark? I'm extra curious with those who have ADHD.
While I enjoy being outside in the woods alone when it's dark, it's also equally scary as enjoyable.
I know I have nothing to fear, yet my brain doesn't seem to understand that. And it doesn't seem to get better with age either.

Does anyone know why Docker would rate limit me after not even using their service? I was about to update my Snikket container on my VPS, but I was immediately rate limited? I'm the only user and I've had the same IP-address for several years.

I don't like what the fediverse has become. It feels more like mainstream social media with hollow and low-nutrition content.
It feels like it's time for me to take a break from this. Again. I know. However. I really want to keep liking the fediverse. I've been here for a decade now, but a lot has happened since then, and I don't feel at home here anymore.
I don't know if it's possible to get back the old fediverse again? Perhaps going back to Mastodon from GoToSocial was a mistake.

I ordered switches the other day. They forgot to include the foam I also ordered, so they asked me what they could do to compensate me for the mistake. I didn't ask for anything, but I said that I was interested in trying out a specific switch if they had one left over. I was gifted a few more. :)
Stock switches has fore sure come a long way since I last bough my old switches. They're all far superior than my old switches.

YAM Launcher is available on F-Droid if anyone would like to try it out.

Why? It feels like they're doing the DRM horror show all over again: Honest people get screwed over, and can't have a good time playing for games they paid for, while "pirates" enjoy their cracked games without DRM and any issues that comes with it.

I would like to get started with retro gaming on my Android phone. I've installed RetroArch, which works just fine, but I would like to have a fancy launcher.
What's your recommendations? I've tried Daijishō and Pegasus, but they're both bad. I would like it to be open source and they should preferably work.
I haven't been able to find much information about this at all. It seems that most information are hidden on Reddit?
