@nprofile…cc5z HI! Sorry to ask you again but I'm looking for the article about getting started with linux audio that you wrote. Iirc you mentioned some audio interfaces in it, including the EVO4 that I got. But I'd like to upgrade a bit for more inputs.

2026-10-27 22:55:48 UTC

Anyone know if Apollo x4 works well with Linux and PipeWire? I currently have an EVO4 (works well) and carelessly got an EVO8 that doesn't work well with linux. #linuxaudio

I'm trying to build the nvidia driver on linux kernel 7. Well dkms is trying to but there's some header files missing (of_gpio.h) and some other stuff that's not compiling.
This is the 590 version of the nvidia driver. Maybe I should try to change to a newer version of the nvidia driver that targets kernel 7?

2026-10-26 22:40:48 UTC

Whatever happened to linux/of_gpio.h in kernel 7?

What's the best way to upgrade pipewire/wireplumber on debian trixie? I'd like to run the latest version and not the one packaged by Debian

I finally found a truly lovely implementation of a low pass filter. It doesn't explain all the details, but goes through some mathematics and there's a story behind how the person thought this through.
I'll use this design but adapt it slightly according to my needs. PCB ordered at @nprofile…uwwy !

Yay! I went down into the basement and had a look at old electronics kits and found a "voice changer" kit that can do pitch/robot voice etc. I'm thinking I could use that to take any sound and just pitch it down to bass levels.

I need to build an active low pass filter in the shape of a guitar effect pedal, so mono in and mono out. Preferably also runs on 9V like other effect pedals. Any good circuit designs you can recommend?

Do you ever have thoughts where you question the meaning of everything? Your life, why you do what you do? Do people really care about you? What's the point? For me those negative feelings can sometimes pile up. I've had them off and on as long as I remember.
I try to tell myself it's just temporary and that it'll turn around eventually. How do you deal with them?

I continued with the dual cameras today and kind of got the 3D working. I realized though that the cameras are too far apart and it doesn't work well to correct it in software. It sort of works but only at a fixed distance and not over the whole scene from near to far. The physical distance between the cameras is more important than I thought it to be.

I opened up a Logitech C922 camera. I'm building a double camera setup so I can generate anaglyph 3D media. I want the camera parts without the complex housing so I can wrap both cameras in my own 3d printed housing. This little fella does 1080p at 30Hz so it's still quite nice hardware. #3D #anaglyph

I'm doing some research into 3D film. There seems to be a lot of different methods. I'd like to try out the old school stereoscopy using 3D glasses with different color filters. Red and cyan filters seem to be the most common and also often used on Wikipedia for these types of images. Any suggestions on how to take a live video feed and apply stereoscopy to it? I have a capture card and know the basics of OBS software

I was listening to Radiolab today. The episode is called Numbers and it's from 2009. In one of the sections they talk about Paul Erdős and his collaborate work. A guy made some research into how many people there are with different Erdős numbers. There are about 500 people with Erdős number 1 and next ring is about 8000. I believe they stopped at 10 where the total number of mathematicians connected to him is 200000.

I'm looking at trains from Sweden to Hamburg around xmas/new years. Previously you could take the night train directly to Hamburg and Berlin but Swedish SJ stopped that route.
Now it looks like you have to use https://www.nachtexpress.de which is a German provider, but they the latest departure is 12th of December which makes it impossible for me.
Guess I'll see if there are direct trains from Copenhagen to Hamburg instead and stitch something together that way.

An ideal example would be to have a bowl shaped as a rectangle with the sides 18x32 cm. It would fit perfectly. Also 22.5x40 would be nice. And 20x35.5 can work but not perfectly 16:9 ratio.

2026-08-12 13:14:31 UTC

- reply

The reason for this is that I'm using a camera which has the 16:9 format so when zooming into the bowl I'd like it to fit the entire picture as much as possible, so no sides sticking out etc. I'm doing this because when generating cymatics visuals I want to capture as much movement as possible.
A counter example would be to have a circular bowl, when you make that fit in the camera you'll have a lot of area outside the circular bowl that's irrelevant.

2026-08-12 13:10:14 UTC

I'm trying to find different bowl shaped like things where the sides have the ratio as close to 16:9 as possible. Also the shortest side has to be at least 18cm. Any suggestions welcomed. It has to have some depth (say 1-2 cm) and a rim.
