The drops of water on it were what I was trying to capture. The textures just came out really nice on review afterward.

GM Nostr friends. It's Friday!
Chilly here today. Was in the 30s when I woke up this morning. 🥶 My body hasn't yet gotten the memo that winter is coming, but pretty soon this will feel fairly warm.
Quiet weekend ahead, I think. Hubby is still hurting from either throwing his back out, or developing a pinched nerve. Maybe both. He refuses to go see a doctor - terrible fear of them, unfortunately. I hate seeing him in pain, but nagging him to go see someone isn't a great motivator.
Drink your coffee and have a lovely day all. Or don't, I can't tell you what to do!

GM Nostr friends.
It was so nice to go out last night. I really needed some time away from home. Had a great time with my friend, and we both enjoyed the movie, despite it being incredibly weird. Not entirely a romance, not entirely a comedy, but with sprinkles of drama and and even horror at the end. When credits rolled, my friend said, "What on earth did we just watch?!" 🤣
She also loved the package of instant chai and the electric kettle I gave her. As she will never be on here, I can safely say she was previously heating water in a mug in the microwave anytime she wanted tea, like a neanderthal. (Sorry European friends, I know that hurts you down to your souls.)
Another day ahead of us. Make Thursday a good one.

My mom used to say happiness is defined as someone to love, something to do, and something to look forward to. We had a lot of differences, but that was a wise statement that I've held onto.
I'm with your mom on the late fall early winter sentiment! And yep, here in Minnesota we easily get snow sticking around until May. Depends on how much we got that winter, and how much the plows piled up.
We did have some warm days here recently (I think it hit 70 yesterday?), but otherwise it's been rainy and a bit cold - got down to the 40s last night, and our highs are going to be in the 50s the rest of this week. I would happily take 70s all year long!

GM Nostr friends.
I went a little too hard on the exercise bike yesterday. My hips and hamstrings achethis morning.
Taking my friend to see Wicker tonight as a belated birthday gift. I haven't been out to see a movie in a very long time. Really looking forward to going out. Other than getting groceries or going to appointments, I end up not leaving the house much.
It's also getting to be the time of year I dread. As much as I dislike extreme heat, I also hate winter. I always feel trapped and constantly on edge, just waiting for something bad to happen. It's gotten better since my doctor increased my anti-anxiety meds, and I now take a boatload of Vitamin D and sit in front of my sun lamp every morning. Still though, I dread winter. Cold and dark and often dangerous to drive in.
Anyway. I have to find things to look forward to. It's the only way to get through.
Happy Wednesday, all.

GM Nostr friends.
For those who saw multiple posts of Lu last night, my apologies. Ditto has been acting up for me - not showing anything in my follow feed, and saying a post wasn't sent when in fact it was, leading me to try it four or five times. I switched over to Jumble for today.
Cold and rainy here again this morning. As much as I love Fall, this part is a bummer. Lu hates getting wet (I can't blame her, if I was 10" tall I would too), and the transition to snow is so close I can practically taste it.
Hubby's back is still really bad today, and he said he slept really poorly. And yet, he went to work. Different ethics between us - he's a Gen X and I'm a millennial. I would have stayed home and at least been comfortable if I were going to be in pain. (Granted, I also would've gone to the chiropractor first thing, too...)
Anyway, everyone's safe and warm here. We have stable jobs and a non-leaking roof over our heads. Pretty blessed in general. God is good all the time.
Happy Tuesday, all!

Goooooooood morning, Nostr friends! It's another day the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice in it!
Whoa. Lutheran upbringing throwback.
I'm just feeling content today. No big emotional upheavals, no drama at work or home. Got some laundry to do, but planning on a quiet day otherwise.
Last night I was opening a can of (whoop ass) diced tomatoes for dinner, and sliced open the side of my thumb. Ow. Almost a cliche injury, but my finger got tangled with the pull tab on the lid. No, I did not contribute any blood to our meal thankfully!

2026-10-20 18:16:58 UTC

Well, Lu lucked out. I got a call from the vet shortly after my last post that their machine was broken, and they wouldn't be able to work on her teeth today. She's happily curled up in her bed next to my desk now!

2026-10-20 14:29:10 UTC

GM Nostr friends.
I dropped Lu off at the vet for her dental cleaning this morning. I know they'll take great care of her, but I always get a sick feeling in my stomach. Logically I know she's 14 years old, and although she's in pretty dang good health, I could lose her at any time.
Anyway, gotta distract myself with some work today, as I won't be able to pick her up until this evening.
Happy Tuesday, all.

Quiet morning here before we head to church in an hour. Just finished my coffee while browsing my Nostr feed.
I definitely have a pinched nerve in my shoulder. Gotta suck it up and get into my chiropractor and possibly schedule a massage to get it on the road to recovery. The pain has been eye-watering, and I generally have a pretty high tolerance.

2026-10-16 20:35:39 UTC

GA Nostr friends. After rain all day yesterday, today is bright sunshine and WIND. 🍃
We had an amazing former coworker of Hubby's offer us the weekend at his cabin in Wisconsin. Since we already have plans with a mutual friend Saturday, we're just going to go up for tonight. His cabin has a real fireplace, and so we're going to relax, have some time together, and listen to the crackling flames for an evening and head back home tomorrow afternoon. So excited!
Happy Friday, all. Enjoy your weekend.

I might be kind of indifferent to some aspects of my new job, but the people and the team building is insanely awesome. A couple months ago they were asking for proposals for our celebratory staff appreciation day, and I suggested a local (local to me, anyway) apple orchard.
Long story short, I'm getting paid to go there today and hang out with people, and then going into the nearby town for lunch, which they're paying for. Even if it rains, it's gonna be a great day.
Happy Thursday, all!

So tired today. Woke up at 2am with severe aching pain from the left side of my neck all the way down my shoulder blade. Yup, I somehow pulled a series of muscles in my sleep. I sat up for an hour to let the pain meds kick in, and fell back to sleep. Alarm went off at its regular time this morning and I think I heard my entire body sigh. Still hurts now. 😣

Sitting on the couch with Hubby this morning looking at light bulbs online (looking for some WiFi-capable ones to work with Home Assistant) while I drink my coffee. I'm on the upswing from my cold - very grateful it was mild.
Church this morning, and then we're going to go pick up our pre-order of Booya from a local charity. Very excited for it! Hubby has never had it, and I want to see his reaction. Too bad it's hot out again today. This is a dish best eaten when the weather is chilly to truly celebrate the harvest season.
Happy Sunday!

So many thoughts in my head this morning, and not one of them wants to come out. Not a bad thing, just bleh. Brain on overload today.
Lu needs to get her teeth cleaned. Her vet ran a blood test and said she's healthy enough for it, despite her age. I'm worried both about the anesthesia and the cost. Hubby is not pleased about how much we've had to spend on her the last few months. I understand his point - she's 14 years old, mostly in good health, but I rebutted that we do this now, and it prevents an infection, pain, and a possible emergency visit in the future. We ended up having a good talk last night despite being on opposite sides of the issue. I love Lu desperately, but she is elderly, and I acknowledge that there will come a point when costly medical procedures just won't make sense. Dreading that future moment, but for now, she's gonna get her teeth cleaned.

GA Nostr friends.
I dreamed last night that I went back in time, but somehow it was just before Satoshi published his whitepaper. I remember running around trying to find a miner and some sort of item to hold all my bitcoin in something like a Best Buy with a few other people. 😋
Bit of a bummer for Lu. She had her six month checkup with the vet today, and her right eye is bad again, so she's back in the cone of shame while getting eye drops for the next 10 days or so. Seems to feel fine otherwise. Our vet even recommended a dosage of antihistamine, and it turns out I already take the same thing myself.
Hubby discovered Home Assistant this weekend, so we played with that all day Saturday and part of Sunday. Turns out we had a bad SD card, so I bought a new one today, flashed it, and it's running smooth as can be on my raspberry pi. Nice. 😎
Happy Monday, all. Do something kind for someone in your life today, just because.

Gratefulness post: Stok now has a peppermint mocha cold brew (don't judge me). Lu is curled up snoozing in her bed next to my feet. We had a fan in the window and I was able to sleep with a comforter last night. I have a job to "go" to this morning. Hubby and I are *relatively* healthy. Found a good book to read, and have been slowly enjoying it the last few days. God is good.

GM Nostr friends.
Reading my morning news, I came across a link to the red carpet looks from some music event last night, and started scrolling through. I think I recognized maybe two out of the fifty or so "stars". Man, I'm getting old. I'm actually pretty okay with that, but at the same time it is a bit shocking how little I know (or care) about mainstream media or celebrity these days.
Took Lu out for her morning potty earlier, and suddenly she started hobbling, favoring her left front foot. I picked her up to look - no obvious cut or swelling, no rock or piece of something caught between her toe beans. I carried her the rest of the way home, got some video of her hobbling around the kitchen, and then she finished her breakfast and ran up the stairs to my office just like normal. :blobspin: Going to continue to monitor today to see if I need to get in with the vet, but she's sleeping normally in her bed now.
Had an okay weekend. Binged Neagley on Saturday (loved it!), and then finished a book off my TBR pile Sunday. Hubby was busy playing around creating macros for his work, and then organizing some of his piles of stuff, so it was nice to do our own things.
Happy Monday all!

GM Nostr friends. Coffee? Check. Oats & blueberries? Check. Sleeping puppy? Check.
Looks like today will be a good day.
Not a whole lot going on around here. We have Lu's follow up vet appointment this afternoon to see if her eye is healing. I'm praying that it's had enough time that we can take her cone off. She's had so many (literal) run-ins with the stairs lately that she's becoming hesitant to go up or down, leaving me to carry her both ways. Not that I don't love snuggling Her Fuzziness, but often I have my hands full already.
I'm remembering 9/11 from 25 years ago today. I was a freshman in college, barely two weeks into it when the planes hit the towers.
My radio alarm clock had some news announcements going off when I woke up that day, but I didn't stop to listen as I got ready for my day. Made it to my first class and barely anyone was there - our TA mentioned something had happened in NYC.
I left class and walked back to my dorm, where we had a TV room that fit probably around 200 people. The space was packed as everyone was gathered in clusters, watching replays of the planes hitting the Twin Towers. I found my roommate who was freaking out and crying, as she had family in NY and wasn't able to get through to them (they were in upstate NY, and were fine - phone lines were just tied up from everyone having the same idea).
The next days were just a blur as everyone tried to process what had happened while also staying glued to the news and trying to capture every bit of commentary. I went home that weekend, and remember my dad mentioning how weird it was that there were no planes overhead.
Life felt a lot less simple after that.

GM Nostr friends, happy Labor Day to my fellow Americans.
Quiet day here. Hubby is out putzing in the garage. Just finished my coffee and got a load of laundry in the wash while I scroll for a while.
Funny story from last night: I thought I'd try using a coconut lime exfoliating scrub I'd bought ages ago (that Hubby excavated from under the bathroom sink), and rubbed it into both arms and left leg. Quickly realized that it was slimy and wasn't washing off. Seeing as how I was in the shower, I wasn't really using my nose at the time, so when I did take a sniff, I got a rotten/sour smell and realized the oil in it had gone rancid. I then proceeded to take another shower, this time using a combination of shampoo and Hubby's body wash to rinse the stink off me. The smell was all over the bathroom and bedroom for ages. We had to use a liberal dose of air fresheners to get rid of it. :blobnauseated:
The expiration date on the container said the end of this month, so I thought I was safe. Lesson learned: always smell your shower products before applying.

StritchTunes (think Funkwhale without the pods, for Nostr)
Features:
- Upload individual tracks or albums from local storage or Blossom servers & cover art (also search for cover art with a link)
- Set track/album tags
- Create playlists
- Download and upload playlists in .json format for backup
- Favorite tracks or albums
All this, available in a PWA! Please give it a try, I would love for all my credits not to be a complete waste. I am not a developer in the least, so I get by with a little help from my friend Claude.

Not much work has been done today. I pulled out my dad's old Android and have been downloading all the new Zapstore app recommendations I've been seeing around here lately.
Enjoying playing with Armada, and the Roadstr app. Makes me really really wish there was an Amber signer equivalent for iOS. So seamless.

GM Nostr friends.
I have an L-shaped desk now, with my personal laptop on one side, and the work one on the other.
Kept going over to my personal computer and seeing what I thought was a smudge on the left lens of my glasses. Tried to clean it several times, getting more and more irritated as I went.
...Yeah. I have a lamp on behind me (when I'm at my own computer). It's just the reflection in my glasses. Sigh.
Anyway, have a good day, all!

I've really rediscovered crying about it the last few years. I think it's just an emotional purge reset button for the body that allows us to be able to approach whatever it is from a different perspective after!

GM Nostr friends.
I'm in my flannel 90s throwback era today. White t-shirt (my dad's old shirt, it's like wearing a hug from him), flannel shirt and wide-leg jeans. My inner teenager is thrilled right now.
Hubby found me another keyboard he had stored away that is absolutely perfect. Low profile keys, quiet, and not so much pressure required to actually push them. I think I'll keep him. <3
I am amazed every day at my new job. The people are so kind - not just nice, which we know doesn't always extend below the surface - and the days fly by. I'm allowed to learn as fast or as slow as I want, and they encourage curiosity. I could just pinch myself. At the same time, I feel lots of guilt - talked to a few old coworkers yesterday via email, and they are struggling to make it through an incredibly busy and demanding season with no real end in sight. I wish I could help, but I remember being there too, and it's literally not my job anymore.
Well anyway, enjoy your Wednesday, all! Have a good one, and spread a little kindness.

GM Maria! Hope your brunch is a lot of fun. Everybody needs that time away, especially when it's too hot for anything else!

Love this!
I do try to be positive as much as I can. There's so much negativity in the world. I'm just here in my little corner trying to fight back the darkness a little bit.

A-mazing. I even had a Rizful address and hadn't thought about consolidating funds there to send. Sigh. Okay, gotta wait for confirmation and then I'll get ordering!

Sometimes the purpose of my life is to serve as a warning to others...:blob_bandage:
Bought sats off a pleb on Bisq, but mistakenly asked for on-chain instead of lightning and had it deposit to my Alby hub. Now I can't swap because of stupid Boltz still being down. So sorry @nprofile…hy5k , still trying to get a jar of hodl butter!

GM Nostr friends. (I originally typed, "fiends", and maybe that's appropriate for some of you?)
Can't stop yawning this morning. I slept fine, but feeling extra tired for some reason.
#AskNostr Any recommendations on a quiet keyboard? I'm looking for the exact opposite of mechanical. Hopefully a wireless one if possible, corded/bluetooth/dongle is fine too. Hubby is having me test out an old keyboard of his for my personal computer, and I absolutely hate the key click and feel.
That's all for today folks.

Too much to go into here, but we're both trying to cut out unnecessary spending. Some validity to his point, but yes, also some BS.

GM Nostr friends. Happy Monday.
We struck out hard at almost all the things we planned on yesterday. The booya was already sold out by the time we got there. The craft fair where I intended to visit a coworker was filled with a bunch of ....well, Hubby put it, "my anti-people". And I couldn't even find her. And then we went to a small farmer's market nearby where I got a delicious honey vanilla latte, but then Hubby got mad at me ("too much kitschy crap") for buying a $3 little key chain that said, "Crazy Plant Lady". Sigh.
I did get some canning cucumbers and fresh dill and made some refrigerator pickles. Very excited to see how they turn out. I only had ground versions of most of the ingredients for the pickling spices, so I'm a little worried I overdid it. We'll see in a week or two!
Enjoy your day, my friends.

GM Nostr friends.
Stopping at our friend's house on the way to church this morning to refill her cats' cater bowl and food while she and her husband are out of town. Looking forward to a few minutes of playing with some Siamese siblings.
Minnesota has a tradition called Booya. Hopefully we can grab a few cups from the local clubs and churches, as Hubby has never had it. (It's basically a stew made from recently harvested vegetables with some beef, cooked for hours and hours.)

My submission is in! https://stritchtunes.shakespeare.wtf/ Been working on this for a while, and it still has bugs, but seems to be mostly working. I'm proud of my little music player/Funkwhale clone.

Hey, I attempted to put in my own npub on this just now, and it won't let me paste. Wants me to install Inference Bridge for Chrome. Any way you could axe that requirement?

How's this? Funkwhale, but Nostrified: https://stritchtunes.shakespeare.wtf/ (Completely vibe-coded by me. Still some bugs to work out, but a user music library sharing service.)

Hi Derek, I finally threw some money into an AI and vibe-coded StritchTunes, a Nostr-flavored version of Funkwhale. (A music library-sharing player.) I am still working on getting some bugs squashed, but it is up and available for folks to try out now: https://stritchtunes.shakespeare.wtf/

GA Nostr friends.
Man, today flew by. Lu has been sick again, so hoping to get her in to see the vet and possibly have an ultrasound to figure out what is going on with her sad little tummy. I watched her throw up her entire breakfast this morning, and then she was so hungry a few hours later. Fingers crossed that she can keep some food down. Poor old girl doesn't have the calories spare.
Friday I went to campus and picked up the dual monitors they ordered for me, so my grown up desk is now complete. Hubby helped me move my old extra wide monitor over to the other end of the desk for my personal use, and then got everything else set up for work on the left. Feels so nice to have room to spread out, although I'm still getting used to having multiple screens.
Hope everyone is having a good day!
