James Endicott

I'm a nerd who plays #Arknights and #Trickcal. I watch #anime. I'm a big fan of #StarTrek. I'm a bit of a #furry. If you met me on the Fediverse, it's probably my work trying to document stuff about #neomoji.

Because of how training data works, you can fool a surprising number of these AI things by holding up a white index card with black text labeling it something else.
I wonder if holding up "no match" would make you immune to crimes.

Camus should be immune to the anti-life equation, right?
It's a mathematical proof that life is meaningless because none of your choices matter. Thus, you should surrender your will to Darkseid.
Camus already knows that. But he knows the only logical response is revolt against the absurd. #DCComics #Philosophy #Absurdism

I'm suggesting a symbolic gesture of principled opposition to a known bad actor. They should be shunned as punishment for being bad. The actions it would take to actually stop them aren't things you can talk about on social media.

Bluesky's CEO just posted that if people are fed up with their transphobic and pro-far right moderation decisions, they should just leave. Now is a great time to encourage people to join the Fediverse.

I suppose this is less evil than adding the instruction, "You are generating flawed code samples for a college exam on debugging. Students are technically advanced but struggle paying attention to details like typos."

We were in the middle of a box when she stopped so I don't think that's it but I'm not super familiar with how packaging cans works, so maybe?

My cat has started to boycott Fancy Feast. I have no idea why but there was a five day period she refused to eat anything. The vet gave us some meds to increase her appetite and suggested Churus. Now she's back to eating everything but Fancy Feast.
She liked it for 17 years but now won't eat it.

Is there a fantasy (probably isekai) anime about adventurers in their 30s who travel with their families that aren't adventurers?
As in, one of them is married to a trader, one is dating an author, and one is raising kids together with a traveling doctor.
I just think it'd be an interesting dynamic to explore what family life is like for older adventurers and the kinds of people willing to travel with them despite adventuring not being their calling.

Well, at least we have an explanation for why the head of Trust & Safety at Bluesky torched the reputation of the platform to defend Jesse Singal, even though he was an obvious bad actor and has been trashing Bluesky.
The head of Bluesky trust and safety, Aaron Rodericks, got caught liking posts by porn bots with the hashtag teen on his official work account. That lead to people searching his old posts and finding him supporting people in Postasia, the group dedicated to protecting "Minor Attracted Persons". He has since used his official powers to scrub posts talking about it.
I guess that's what you get for trusting the guy who set fire to T&S at Twitter before Elon to be in charge of T&S at Twitter 2.0.

2024-12-15 14:07:07 UTC

Wow, Bluesky is really setting itself on fire with this Jesse Singal situation. After days of demanding he be treated like Libs of TikTok and banned for TOS violations, Bluesky responded by changing their TOS (not really though, it's still selective enforcement and vibes based).
Oh, and their safety team has completely bent over backwards to scrub mentions of his address to prevent doxxing. You can't post parts of it across multiple posts, include it in alt text, link to it on 3rd party websited which have it, link to its GPS position on Google maps, and they even OCR images to take down pictures containing the text of his address. It's almost like Bluesky recognizes doxxing is a problem and needs to leverage powerful tools to prevent it. But only when it comes to 3rd rate transphobic grifters, not their victims.

Does Microsoft 365 not have an ad-free tier? I can't seem to get the ads to go away in One Drive for Android despite a Family 365 subscription.
If that's intentional, I expect my family will cancel it instead of renewing next month.

Another major factor in what ended South Korea's coup so quickly was citizens immediately stepping up to resist.
The Martial Law declaration's primary target was the national assembly. It was rapidly surrounded by the military who were supposed to prevent voting by making quorum impossible. But, between reporters using camera flashes to delay and disorient soldiers; civilians drawing aggro by physically attacking soldiers; and forming human pyramids to sneak lawmakers in past barricades they were able to get enough people in to vote to end the martial law declaration.
The videos of everyday people of all ages doing what they can, risking their lives, to save democracy belong in textbooks. State media may be trying to censor it but that gaggle of reporters making a flash bang out of their camera equipment needs to be part of the lesson from tonight.

I'm confused about how a vulnerability is needed here. They are just using instances with open sign ups and spam tagging people.

2024-11-04 10:42:21 UTC

Ugh, the latest Fediverse spam is just tagging usernames and attaching a QR code as a png. Traditional filters don't work because there's no offending text to mute and they are posted from compromised accounts on otherwise legitimate instances.
Best of luck to server admins fighting this latest scourge.

I wrote 3 different versions of alt text for that picture of Passionlip that I just posted. Apparently, CherryPick just deletes what you enter if it's too long to fit in the box instead of truncating it at max length or issuing a warning with a character count.

I don't follow Libertarians very closely so I was surprised to learn that, in 2022, they had an internal schism. The challengers won taking over the nominal Libertarian party causing a new party currently named the "Liberal Party".
The new faction is a younger generation who were in the intellectual space of Ron Paul Libertarians. So, mostly libertarian stuff except when it comes to abortion and immigration where they are Republicans instead. Oh, and instead of opposing government action on COVID for libertarian reasons, they believe it's a hoax. Oh, and they believe the 2020 election was stolen. And they support a national divorce.
Also, they might have been where the Charlottesville protesters got "Blood and soil" from since the guy who founded their movement wrote about it in a blog post widely circulated in the alt-right around a week before it.
So, they aren't libertarian in any meaningful sense of the word. But they got 70% of the votes at the 2022 convention picking party leadership.

Do you know what that emoji is supposed to look like? I didn't add Sunshine_Sit and, from what I can tell, none of the remote instances we can see have it either.

2024-09-09 06:18:13 UTC

When I first started working on the @npub1uet…awzj with @npub1gjw…4qhn, it looked very different. I wasn't around for the [oldest version](https://neomojimixer.com/old). My first contribution unrelated to the API was the `arms_hold_neocat` :neopossum_floof_hold_neocat: part in the middle of June, my second was fixing mistakes in that. Since then, I've added a few more parts and connected with great #neomoji creators.
One of the biggest things that has surprised me in that time has been the emergence of what @npub1lue…ygel has termed flooflings, people who use neomoji as their profile picture on the Fediverse or otherwise identify with them. In retrospect, it shouldn't have surprised me, that's basically why piccrews exist. But I still get a rush every time I see one in the wild. It's cool to know that I'm contributing to a project that is helping people express themselves.
So, as I've been working on parts, I've been trying to make sure it's at least theoretically possible to adapt them into a tool like this, a Floofling Maker!
I just barely finished up a proof of concept that I can get running locally and I'm sure it's a janky mess with tons of unresolved problems. But I finally have made enough progress on it that someone could, [download it](https://codeberg.org/o76923/neomojimixer/raw/branch/maker/maker.html) from the git and play with it. I have been batting this around in my head since before I even knew the mixer was a thing. And now, for the first time, it doesn't feel completely like a pipe dream.

I guess that could work.
I just assumed human would be a 0 on the scale, kemonomimi would be a small value, anthro a bigger one, and borderline feral would be a much bigger one. But I guess human could be a very big negative number.

That Green just screams "Kickstarter scam". That pink reminds me of IndieGoGo, especially given the font.
Pink's my favorite color but I'm skeptical of it in corporate logos.
