The most photographed tree in the world.

It's called ‘That Wānaka Tree’ and grows in the waters of Lake Wānaka, in New Zealand, surrounded by mountains and a breathtaking landscape.
Over the years, it has attracted photographers from all over the world, including leading professionals, who have tried their hand at capturing the perfect shot. Because there is something special about this tree: it is beautiful in every season – in the snow, in the light of dawn, at sunset or when its leaves change colour.
It is always the same tree, yet every time it looks like a different photograph.
I could paint it. 🎨

Painting may seem like a completely pointless activity to others, but that creative act – without any purpose or audience – switches the brain into a different gear, allowing it to rest whilst it works.
And believe me, that’s no small thing.

Coinos is once again a project worth paying attention to.
It started as a custodial Lightning wallet, evolved into a self-custodial wallet with Ark, and, most importantly, has become a fantastic Nostr client.
Definitely worth checking out: https://v3.coinos.io/

Disappointed to see Nostrich heading in this direction. I was genuinely looking forward to your marketplace as another showcase for my paintings, but turning it into an NFT collectible economy built around scarcity and trading feels like a troubling departure from what I hoped this project would stand for. Not every creative community needs to become a speculation market.
What a shame...

Two distant figures crossing a snowy clearing.
There is a quiet kind of solitude here, touched by a little melancholy, but no sadness. Just a moment of stillness, and the feeling that the world can be vast and silent without making us feel alone.

🎨 PRIMROSE, Oil on board - June, 2026
✓ Original oil painting — unframed
A light that exists before words. It doesn't illuminate things — it wraps them, softens them, brings them back to something very old. The boat still on the water seems suspended, as if time had stopped along with the light.
Painting this subject made me feel the need to meditate. A sought simplicity, where every element has its weight and nothing is unnecessary.

So far this year, I’ve sold only three paintings. Just three.
But each one has found its way into someone’s life carrying a story deeper than I could ever have imagined when I painted it.
Stories like yours remind me that perhaps the true value of a painting cannot be measured by how many are sold, but by what happens when one of them finds the person it was meant to reach.
Three paintings may not be many. But if they can touch someone’s heart, awaken a memory, or become part of a story so deeply personal, then perhaps that is already something extraordinary.
Sometimes, quality truly means more than quantity. And sometimes, one painting is enough to remind you why you keep painting.
Thank you for reminding me of that. ❤️

I’m honestly struggling to find the words. Your story has moved me more deeply than I can express, and I’m writing this with tears in my eyes.
When I paint, I never really know where a painting will go, or what it might come to mean in someone else’s life. I can only follow what I feel, put a little piece of my heart into it, and let it go.
Knowing that The Promise of the Clouds found its way into your life, and that it has become a daily reminder of something so precious to you, is a gift I will carry in my heart for a long time.
Thank you for sharing something so intimate with me, and with all of us. Thank you for seeing in my painting something that perhaps I could never have put into words myself.
I don’t know what else to say, except that I feel deeply grateful. Perhaps this is one of the most beautiful things that can happen to a painting: to leave the hands of the person who created it and become part of someone else’s story.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. ❤️🙏🫂🎨

Yes I have all my files on the new blossom, but maybe the links in some old Nostr notes could be related to the old blossom server

2026-10-22 10:25:15 UTC

A small update about my Nostr infrastructure.
Some images attached to my older posts may now appear broken. They were hosted on my previous Blossom server, running on Haven, and are no longer available at their old addresses.
I've now moved to a new setup powered by **Nostrfy**, which runs with a much smaller RAM footprint than Haven. On a small personal server, that makes a real difference.
I'm now running my own Blossom server, a relay with read/write access, and personal outbox and chat relays — all under my own control.
It's a small step towards a more independent and sustainable Nostr setup. And a good opportunity to give Nostrfy some recognition for making this possible.
If you come across a broken image in one of my old posts, now you know why. 🧡

Your 50s are strange. And maybe that's exactly what makes them beautiful.
You reach this age thinking you've finally figured something out about life. Then you look around and realize that everyone is living a completely different story.
Some have built everything they once dreamed of. Others are still figuring out what they truly want. And some find themselves starting over just when they thought everything was finally settled.
Some look back with nostalgia, others look ahead with excitement, and some are simply trying to enjoy the present without making too many plans.
I find myself thinking more and more that there is no right path and no timeline we have to follow. Life doesn't move in a straight line, and it never asks permission before changing direction.
Sometimes it surprises you. Sometimes it tests you. And sometimes it makes you laugh precisely when you'd rather be angry at the whole world.
Then there are the little contradictions of this age: still feeling full of possibilities, but having much less patience for wasting time on things that don't really matter.
Maybe that's what changes. Not necessarily our desire to live, but the way we choose to live.
We become more aware of the value of time, genuine people, and the freedom to be ourselves, even when that means changing our minds, starting over, or taking a path others don't understand.
At 50, we're not all in the same place. And thankfully, we don't have to be.
We don't need to prove anything to anyone or rush to keep up with other people's lives.
We can still be surprised, make mistakes, learn, and change direction.
With a little more experience, a few more aches and pains, and hopefully our sense of humor still intact.
In the end, it's not about having everything under control.
It's about learning to live well even when we don't.

EDIT: OpenReceive not OpenService.
Sorry...

2026-10-13 13:51:03 UTC

All these “self-custodial” services for getting a Lightning address, built on Spark and Ark, look great.
But at the end of the day, nothing works as smoothly as a custodial service like @nprofile…vulm
Starting today, I'll use it as my Lightning address on Nostr and rely on its OpenService via NWC to accept Lightning payments on my website. So far, it's the only solution that works flawlessly.
I know it's a huge compromise when it comes to self-custody. But my priority is also to give people buying my paintings a smooth, reliable, and secure checkout experience.
Sometimes, the best solution isn't the most ideologically pure one. It's the one that actually works.

It always feels a little special to think that someone, on the other side of a screen, might stop in front of one of my paintings, wish they could admire it every day, and want to make it their own.
Among so many images that pass by in a matter of seconds, something I created has managed to spark an emotion.
And to me, that’s one of the most beautiful things about painting.

Non ancora, ma ci siamo quasi.
Ho provato VectorCraft come sostituto di Illustrator ed è veramente notevole, purtroppo però crasha spesso.

Few lines to build the shape, few shadows to fill the space, a reflection, a light, an idea that begins to take shape.

A question for all Nostr artists:
Would you rather be successful without deserving it, or deserve success without ever achieving it?
In other words:
Would you rather make a fortune, knowing your art is empty and sells only because it’s been hyped up?
Or:
Would you rather be appreciated wherever you go, but have no one buy your work—even though your art has real value?
But then I started wondering:
Who gets to decide that an artwork is “empty”?
The artist? The audience? The market? Critics?
And if a seemingly mediocre work manages to move millions of people and generate real economic value, is it really “empty” after all?

A new painting is on its way. https://relay.isolabellart.it.com/a5804386a55ed2fd826fa666fa5cd188d893290803d05b5697236bbd37a034a5.jpg

I wanted to try a small experiment on XMRBazaar by putting two of my paintings up for sale.
After almost a month, the results are quite modest: one painting received 14 views, the other 21, and there was only one comment — from someone who already knew me through Nostr.
Those numbers are significantly lower than what I normally see when I share my paintings on barattolo.store. Even the posts linking to paintings on my own website tend to get more views when I share them on Nostr.
I don't necessarily take this as a judgment on the paintings themselves. Rather, it seems like an interesting indication of how different platforms can have very different abilities to put your work in front of people who are actually interested in it.
In the end, that's what experiments are for: you try something, see what happens, and then decide where it's worth investing your time and energy.
For now, I'd say XMRBazaar didn't work as I had hoped.
But at least now I know. 🙂

Ho fatto questa semplice riflessione mentre aspettavo il treno stamattina.
Sul binario decine di studenti ognuno sul proprio smartphone a scrollare i social e nessuno parlava con nessun'altro. Una scena triste.

My first Artist Trading Cards for the Nostr ATC | 2026 project 🎨
I’ve created 18 different reproductions of my original paintings, one-off pieces.
They are inkjet prints on 250 g/m² Astropack cardstock, with a matte watercolour-embossed finish, in the standard 2.5 × 3.5 inch format.
Each card is a true 1/1 — only one copy exists, and I will never print another.
Each card features my logo on the back, along with:
Title: [title of the work]
Artist: Carlo Isolabella
# 01/01
2026
Nostr: @isolabellart
I’m looking forward to trading them with other artists — or with anyone who simply falls in love with one and wants to own it for 20,000 sats. 🧡
Collect them all! 😉

There was someone on Twitter who said:
“There should be a website where you post your wishes and rich people give you gifts anonymously.”
I said to him:
“Oh wait, but it does exist!
It’s built on Nostr!”

At the end of August, I almost had a whole Monero thanks to the sale of a painting to a dear friend from Nostr.
Then… nothing.
I thought people who held Monero actually used it as money. Turns out, many of them just HODL it like any Bitcoiners.
Maybe Monero’s real challenge isn’t just being good money, but getting people to actually spend it and keep it circulating.
