Well well, vibe-coded document reader for emacs just dropped: https://github.com/emacs-taf/etaf-reader
I made the prediction to @nprofile…e5lm in private. I guess from February to October counts as "few months".

How do you stop yourself from getting used to bugs or otherwise stupid limitations of software you maintain?

#mastodon how the hell do I get my website link to be verified? I have tried following the instructions properly. But it simply doesn't look green like it does for others! Please help me.

@nprofile…l2h8 if you run `command A` in project A using project-compile, and go to project b and run project-compile again, it will use the compile-command value from project A, `command A` and if you change it to `command B` to compile project B, but then go back to project A and run project-compile again, it will pick up `command B` instead of `command A`.

@nprofile…l2h8 are you sure about that? For me it seems to be storing it globally.

@nprofile…l2h8 You mean set that using .dir-locals?

How do you get project.el, and/or compile to remember the
compile-command on a per project basis?

Can you explain what emacs-ares/arei (?) does? I haven't looked into it. But I don't understand what ares and what arei. Is there is some simple introduction to all this somewhere?

@nprofile…k3ke which ones are you talking about in particular?

2026-02-23 08:14:49 UTC

it sucks when a public software repository doesn't have a proper license notice, especially when the author intended it to be free software. Because without proper notices it is basically proprietary software.

@nprofile…s24j @nprofile…g7ld it has a problem of a few editors controlling some pages. I saw a edit log which said something along lines of "remove reference to operating system because this is not GNU Hurd." So they believe kermes are operating systems. But they actually don't and are inconsistent.

@nprofile…lvhv @nprofile…g0k5 yup exactly, that slippery slop is how you get into the current situation with various free software projects including proprietary bits and/or promoting proprietary software.
Also RMS is not immediately asking you people live like him. He is not even asking you to live like him. Look up FSF's freedom ladder campaign. People smear FSF as being unreasonable but they really are not.
