the industrial revolution gave us the means to build even greater works than our forefathers, it alone was not the problem. it was and is the general feeling of impermanence and cultural apathy (e.g. “not my problem”) that is behind the hatred of anything that prioritizes beauty over infintesimally small gains in efficiency.
both of those stem from the deeper spiritual problem of individualism.

Your religion has over a thousand denominations that have taken nearly every stance possible on your most important doctrine (salvation). Wars have been fought with death tolls over 100,00 over what “Correct Christianity” is. You can pick a sect of christianity and then we can argue about it, but even within your denominations you struggle to believe the same about the story of creation and moral right and wrong.
“Paganism“ is also not a religion in the same way that Christianity as a whole is not a religion. Treating all pagan sects as the same thing and then shitting on them for lacking the same doctrine is beyond retarded. But despite that, every pagan adheres to the belief that the gods are to be worshipped because they embody and rule over certain aspects of life, and by worshipping them you grow to be more like them. They have more unity than you do and they’re literally separate religions.

uncle sam is a dead man walking. we’ve been crashing our jets at training exercises, out pilots are too fat for the seats, and the army‘s recruiting has been so bad they‘ve started going to anime conventions and posting on pol. russia on the other hand has been at war for two years, and it’s possible they’ll step in to defend iran if things get wild. if china decides to act on taiwan too, the us might wind up with three fronts to deal with during their worst recruiting and competency crisis ever. history isn’t over.

the gop still doesn't understand their own emphasis on individualism is what killed the american dream. over the past 60 years, they've promised to try to bring us back to the "good old days" in the 50's while simultaneously stripping the dignity from anyone who would dare to make a career out of the jobs 95% of people in the 50's worked.
the root cause of this is the complete destruction of the meaning of life via hyperindividualism. perfect example: people nowadays act like meaning is this nonexistent or untouchable dream, a mythical thing that doesn't actually exist. this is false, it was a solved issue until we decided to abandon all of the wisdom of our elders during the enlightenment. throughout all of recorded history meaning was found through carrying your name on to the next generation, serving one's community and nation, and growing closer to your God(s). individualism has completely destroyed all of these ideals, leaving earthly methods of achieving glory and bettering one's own name as the only possible choice for meaning today. let this play out over 60 years and you wind up with a society that has no collective goals, no social cohesion, and no definition of meaning and a population that devalues and refuses to consider working an "entry level job" as a career option.
goth girl for your time.
