I'm pretty stoked as I sit here drinking a celebratory beer: finally paid off the credit card. Took a long while, but I'm pretty happy looking at the $0 balance on it. Now it's time to finish up the last of the debt: my car loan. I owe about $4,600 and I'm pretty sure I can get that number down to zero before June.

Other than a fire hazard: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805555915679.html
Takes 24 21700 batteries and works pretty well.

Getting all the battery banks charged up and ready just in case we lose power this weekend.

Started migrating services off of the RPis and onto the new #Proxmox server. The initial install went fairly smoothly, got the VLANs configured, and then setup the new primary DNS server. That took longer than it should have, but I will say this: the VM is so much more snappy than the Pi. Next up is the secondary DNS server.

Things I love: great shading and the shimmering. Things I'm not a huge fan of: cleaning shimmer out of the feed...lol. That is an absolutely gorgeous ink though and I might have to grab a bottle and load up one of the Lamys!

Honestly, I'm cheating by using a Netgear 8-port PoE switch and just running a single cable into the network rack...I'm too lazy to install/configure any more keystone jacks...lol.

So, got a test computer up and running. This took far longer than it should've. However, everything is powered on and nothing is on fire which is always a good start. #homelab #nanokvm

So, looks like I've got a bit of fun waiting for me this weekend. #homelab #nanokvm

Okay, the NanoKVMs are in Georgia so I'm assuming they'll be in by Monday. So, got an 8-port PoE switch inbound along with network cables, some USB cables, and some PoE splitters to keep the cable clutter down assuming they don't work directly with PoE. Even setup the OOB VLAN. So excited to get them in... #homelab

It doesn't trip the breaker at full load...unfortunately I don't have any power metrics for the lab so that about the best I can do in that regard. However, I tend to do a lot of encoding work so being able to spin up encoding nodes across the cluster is very nice. It also lets me try dumb/fun things like multipathing, overkill networking and the like.

Got the servers labelled, cleaned up a bit...I'm definitely done for the time being. VM backups are online, shared ISO storage, and I only broke the servers a few times messing around with multipathing...lol. Overall everything works and is stable which is the best outcome. #homelab

Touching up the MOS6502 emulator code, still really happy with the way this turned out overall. #emulation #retrogaming #retrocomputing #python
