27 hours to go. I'm uneasy posting this. We lost someone who showed us that art matters.
But both the actor and any number of the characters he played would have said something like "The only instance to regret sharing the human experience is when there are no longer humans."

2026-10-26 21:53:47 UTC

I think we forget how important time is to receiving art, the waiting for things to be made. Too much now is focused on instant gratification. Very little about life actually serves that. The waiting is where life happens, which is where we learn where we are on the continuum & who we get to become.

The one bite stayed motionless on my tongue, just waiting for its fate to be swallowed & expelled, no dreams, no passionate ambitions. Chew, swallow, non-existence.
I had become the Void. The croissant had chosen an end. Tho I spit it out, it got inside.
I've rarely encountered a food that had so much absolutely nothing to recommend it. Underarm hair would've been preferable.

Here? No. No guiltily surreptitious swallow. One bite of this wrung-out dishcloth and god's gracious spirit in me said hell no. Tongue and throat joined in the Gandalf "YOU SHALL NOT PASS," while my brain wondered it I'd kept the receipt.
It's like...the little tan torpedo wanted to be food but knew it wasn't. Knew & didn't even try.

The texture: know how sometimes you wrap the lower portion of a sandwich in paper towel to keep it from losing a precious bit of goodness, then you accidentally bite into that paper towel? You think for a hot second that it's a small enough bite and it's got melted cheese on it sooo-

White bread stood next to the so-called croissant and felt better about itself. Yes, this was on sale, yes sometimes I don't want to bounce around in the kitchen with nothing on but dreams and an apron, yes, my ass is sometimes easy AND lazy on a Sunday morning. I knew I wasn't coming out with culinary greatness. IT'S IN A BOX IN THE FROZEN AISLE, CHRISTINE, THERE ARE NO GOURMANDS THERE. Passables not unattainable though, right?

Food review: Private Selection Cafe Inspired Stuffed Croissant, Black Forest Ham & Swiss in Croissant Dough
First off, every word is a lie.
Velveeta has more dignity than what passed for cheese in there, and there was *one* sad piece of meat hiding inside as if to say "I'm not a part of this."

It felt natural to stay with that same flow for book 2. And if book 2, then definitely book 3. Which is now. I can't say what my writing future holds, but the roar of the crowd(funding) has been a joy. I love how direct the experience has been. How intimate. Just me and anybody saying:
"Hey. I'd like to see the thing get made."
So cool. All the way down to me signing books and writing thank yous, so cool.

2026-10-23 13:53:19 UTC

Crowdfunding this trilogy was a new thing for me. Respected author friends who've done Kickstarter campaigns suggested it for book 1, & I'm ok with experimenting. So. Launched it, response blew me bald(er)...because who am I? The wide reading world had no reason to put faith in me. Yet they did.

When the manager opens their mouth to get you to participate in something inane in that meeting, you look em resolutely in the eye as you say the magic words, "Fool, this isn't even my final form."
Corporatemaxx it. 24/7.

Human history shouldn't need to be an endless loop of overthrowing assholes.

2026-08-27 17:27:27 UTC

All this. The United States government. More seasons of The Bachelor. Murder hornets, black holes eating the cosmos, and guys wearing strap-on munitions peens to Walmart just in case the race war hits while they're getting a tub o’ cheese. Things are not okay.
But there will always be art.
There's always somebody out there saying, "I made a thing despite the darkness, despite the fears, and straight-up *in* the faces of those who try to drag everyone else down."

There is no job, only Zuul.

Today. Today I have zero interest in doing job things, only writer things. Boss approaches with pure bullshit, I hold up a sign: ONLY WRITER THINGS
All. Damn. Day.

"Reach out, touch faith" kind of day.

This thing sitting at 149 pre-launchers is gonna vex me till it ticks over. 149 is NOT a calming number.

I see a "Trek Laserblasted" in your future...

Khan Singh wasn't cool. He was a manipulative, violent, ego-driven sack. Elon likely whacks off to some aspirational image of him. The charismatic fuckable villain ain't nothing but domestic abuse in a 3piece suit. The "funny murderous sociopath" rarely gets me laughing. When I write a villain they don't get to hear wistful strains of 'Redemption Song' to a laugh track.
Catharsis. A helluva drug.
This post is for anybody pretending they didn't get who the monsters were in SINNERS. Or ICE.

Bobo the Mag didn't disable techbro subs just so you can ask ChatGpt how to swallow chewed food.

Just want to say I've been re-reading random sections of Khumalo Tales in preparation for all the crowdfunder things and, no exaggeration whatsoever, I AM DELIGHTED.
I'm looking extremely forward to folks reading this book.

John Connor reads his email: Dear John Connor, Skynet sees its share of resistance fighters but, honestly, none with your passion and creativity, and it's absolutely criminal that more people aren't acknowledging that. You deserve worldwide exposure and that's where Skynet's expertise can help...

One of the cooler things about the internet is you get to see in real time how often other people are doing things that are really creative little gifts they're passing out to the whole class.
Forever rock on.

While staring into the abyss for you, as he does, Bono discovers there are ads there, too, and wonders: is it better you don't know?

"Gee, Brain, what do you wanna do today?"
"Nothing, Pinky. The void calls and we obey. Do you hear it, Pinky? Stare and receive."
*Pinky offers cheese.*
"Cheese?" the lanky one says hopefully.
*Brain accepts*
"Cheese," says Brain.

Sometimes I think about the fact that I encouraged @npub1ksf…r6s6 to write the definitive work on Laserblast, which he damn well did and, in a way, set a shim under many of our nerd universes after being unbalanced so many years by the tragic disappointment of the original movie. LASERBLASTED...is proof that the universe leans toward healing.
You're welcome.

So much closer to launch. Good time to say:
BREATH WARMTH &DREAM: Mother/daughter witches vs Trifling Wizard's team.
AMNANDI SAILS: Teen witch sees the world.
Upcoming book 3? "Magick is less wands and battles, and more the act of daily living. It is, and will always be, a story made of us."
