You take a wrong turn and suddenly you get a flashback to the tube scene in An American Werewolf in London.

Anybody here have any recommendations for a decent pub (serving lunch) along the Downs Link from Horsham to Shoreham-by-Sea or even in Shoreham itself? I'm looking for a good pit stop along the way to Brighton (I know plenty of places in Brighton I'm hoping to stop before getting there).
I'm aware of two very good cafés along the route.

`which-key`, although very useful, is most helpful for when you cannot remember a key binding. Much more relevant here, to find out what a particular key binding does, is `describe-key`, bound to `C-h k` by default.
So try `C-h k C-h .`.

Thanks for this. Despite many years of use, I still daily learn something new about Emacs. 🙂

Is building Emacs from source an option? I do this on my system and install it in my own directories. No need for SU rights. However, the necessary development libraries have to be available.

My #MNT #PocketReform arrived today! Charged it up, booted it, upgraded the system (400+ packages in just a few minutes), and installed #Emacs. All set!
Love this little computer. The default processor is plenty fast enough for my needs. Keyboard is great.

That must have been quite an issue given the authors listed on the cover!

If London is anything to go by, when congestion charging was introduced many years ago now, traffic went down quite dramatically initially but then slowly built up over the years. The positive thing is that it doesn't feel like it went back to the same level as pre-congestion charging.
But I have no data to support any of this, just my feeling based on what I see from my office in central London, two streets inside the congestion charging zone. I imagine data exist somewhere...
PS - I cycle to/from work and always have. :-)

Anybody here had any success in getting their institution to set up an instance for the fediverse? It would make it easier to convince my department to come over here from the bird site instead of going blue.

Generally okay with #Budget (much better than Tory budgets) but disappointed on the environmental side: no fuel duty increase, support for green hydrogen (not viable IMO) and carbon capture (which avoids the real issue), increase on bus fare cap (ok, at least not removed) and nothing on renewables generally. HS2 extension northwards not reinstated.

Even pennies appear to be too much for these companies to pay out. I'm still waiting for anything from EDF months after setting everything up. They've gone completely silent, ignoring emails etc.

They do have an RSS feed for each MP's contributions (and for other things as well) **and** you can get the RSS feed sent to your fediverse timeline as well!

I also would like to be able to change how toots are displayed but have had no luck in doing so. I hope you get some pointers.
twittering-mode allowed for everything in a tweet to be configured. It would be great if mastodon.el had similar.
