I am of the opinion that if your website depends on a single social media website like X, your website sucks.

While some publishers still completely ignore @npub1d62…rhjw, it’s pleasing to see we have such a vibrant community.
While other sites I see get almost no comments on any articles, we get lots! We may not be IGN or PC Gamer, but we do have a decent sized community that are actually active.

I grow weary of all the Mastodon reply-guys that always feel like they just *have* to lecture you on what you use. So i’m moving my personal fully to Bluesky. I’ll cya there.

It’s market share, it’s always market share. People want to get paid for supporting a platform.

2024-11-19 08:46:17 UTC

I don’t really care about #TheGameAwards, but allowing a DLC that has gated progression from a huge base game, to go up against full standalone games is ridiculous.
Should have been it’s own category.

Every time I use Windows I am reminded just how good Linux is now.
Trying to do some CoD with the kiddo, 3 games in and it hard locked the entire system. Forced to hit the reset button.
Then Windows failed to load 3 times, then gave me a blue screen telling me Windows failed to start. Tried restarting again, Windows still fails to load and reboots itself.
Windows 11 is a clown-show.

2024-10-09 13:45:18 UTC

It's so easy to spot spammer attempts on @npub1d62…rhjw
1) All new accounts are moderated and posts get approved / denied
2) 50% of the time it's a random "Thank so much for the info" for their first post on some random forum topic
3) An email address with a bunch of numbers on the end because of course

2024-10-03 16:19:45 UTC

You know why people believe far-right bigoted grifters?
Because an increasing amount of people don't read *anything* they're presented with.
Even on @npub1d62…rhjw I see it *all the time*. My articles aren't even long, and yet there's comments all the time suggesting something or asking something that's literally already right in the article.
It's only getting worse over time too.

All new users have comments go through approval for a while first. It's a system that has worked *very* well to keep our comments a little more focused and respectful.

Quite a few people groaned at me and complained I said Microsoft "donated" Mono to the Wine team on @npub1d62…rhjw
"Hurr how can they donate what's FOSS"
Well, they owned it, it was their project (after buying Xamarin).
Yeah it's FOSS, but you can't just take someone else's FOSS project, put it on your GitHub and claim you suddenly own it. You forked it, you don't own the name, the community doesn't come with it etc etc.
