Went for a shred this morning. It's cool and the weather is beautiful. I'm going hard down a narrow singletrack surrounded by trees, when I almost run into two dipshit photographers who had set up tripods ON THE DAMN TRAIL.
They then gave me shit for telling them that this is a closed mountainbike trail and that their behaviour is dangerous. There are signs telling folks not to enter unless on a bike. They then tried to block my partner from passing as she was coming up behind me. Wtf.

My car has a key that has a non-replaceable battery. When it runs out, it’s trash. Replacement is a few hundred euro, lasts about 3 years.
Last year I opened it and desoldered the dead cell battery. That worked, but sadly I damaged the case.
Today, I fixed that.
Behold: the pink case that is easy to open (and replace). Def not waterproof, but should keep this thing running for a while yet.
The screws need replacing but I had no other M3 thread ones.

Been reading some excerpts from longtermist/rationalist/effective altruist weirdos like Bostrom, Yudkowsky, Kurzweil, Ord and such.
Why do people think these folks are smart?
Everything they write is at best intensely boring science fiction, but most of it is just incoherent drivel.

Supple tyres, smooth suspension, compliant frames — they can make us forget the immense forces that are at play when we're out biking on trails.
Every now and then we're rudely reminded of this. My partner attended a training course this weekend. Someone had to be picked up by ambulance after a small mistake resulted in a very severe crash with a head injury.
Stay safe out there folks.

Someone just suggested to me that I should ask an AI about an issue I cannot solve because I have no experience with, or understanding of, the underlying technology.
This is madness. I am in no position to judge if the lying machine is lying. Verifying would mean learning about the cause, which would negate the use of the AI.

The new bike is almost ready. It needs minor adjustments, and one big one: I don't have the right tool for the brake disc lockings I have.
This is one of the fun ways the bike industry resembles the tech industry: standards are only standard in name.
My lockings are externally splined, which is for a tool that has 16 notches at 44mm diameter. I thought I bought internally splined rings — those for use with a cassette tool, which has 12 splines and is much smaller.
Dammit.
