Spotting european bison in Białowieża National Park in Poland was a wonderful experience. We approached the herds in the snow very cautiously. One group in particular let us get close without disturbing them, and we were able to take some lovely photos. It was truly impressive to see these huge animals up close.

New Zealand is a amazing place for milky way photograhpy. Lots of places without much light pollution compared to my home country Germany. But still a little tricky to find a good composition when the stars are directly above you. I'm not completly satisfied with the palm tree approach but more interesting that just the plain sky. What do you think?

Our last sunrise in Tasmania was something special. At first, the sky was cloudless, but just as I began to growl, a dark cloud cover quickly rolled in. It started to rain, but a small part of the sky remained clear where the sun was rising.

We spotted the first auroras in the sky on the drive from the airport to our accommodation. So we quickly put on as many clothes as we could fit, got the tripod out of the suitcase and headed outside.
A great start to the photo trip, especially as no clear nights were forecast for the next few days.

Today we visited a classic here in the area. The mill on the raging river is rightly a very popular photo subject and looks great, especially in winter.

On Helgoland, the gannets breed on the cliffs close to the path so that you can observe and photograph them wonderfully.

From time to time, a single golden eagle came by to secure some of the carrion. This was always heralded by great commotion among the ravens, who all scampered off and took cover in the trees.
