Fan of the Discworld. I also have a mendeddrum.org account.
Not a fan of the round world
Love to watch the stars, but have no idea about anything vaguely astronomical.
Ex-christian. Recovering by questioning.
Yarn crafts saved my life.
I was once accidentally and unexpectedly on the same stage as Sir Peter Ustinov.

Occasionally mum made curry too. She had lived in places other than England so had a somewhat expanded palate.

Just thinking back and realising that our family was seen as posh because we did things like eat exotic foods.
What sorts of things were these exotic foods?
Pasta.
No really.
We were seen as posh because we regularly ate pasta.

STOP!!
It, once again, appears to be nap time.
I have been herded upstairs by Tiny Dog who is most insistent that I lie down so she can snuggle in.
Who am I to argue with such a compelling argument?

I know quote tooting this is blowing my own trumpet, but I am bloody proud of myself!
The last 5.5 years have been traumatic, with a family house fire, multiple family bereavements, family hospitalisations, pet hospitalisations, unexpected diagnoses, and medical operations.
Through it all I have kept going and finally done it!
I really am proud of myself!

Well, I did it!
I got my final module result and got a distinction, which means my degree offer should be a 1st!
I am so pleased. This is something I never truly believed I could do, but I have done it!! I have actually done it!!
Turns out I just needed the right support in place for my ADHD & autism.
I will get to graduate before I am 50!

Isn't voting also an attempt to influence the government, if you want to take a broad definition?

Is there anyone who makes clothes, available in the UK, with soft seams that won't make me want to not wear them because of the intolerable scratching?

For actual fucks sake.
I need to speak to my GP.
So far I have had to:
- fill in an econsult form
- wait for a call back
- recieved a call back from admin telling me that I need to speak to my surgeons secretary
- rang the hospital where I had my surgery
- got passed to 3 different people
- told that more than 6 weeks have passed, so the GP needs to see me and re-refer in
- rang the GP surgery back again
- had to fill in another econsult form with the receptionist
- wait for a call back
HOW IS THIS AN IMPROVEMENT ON CALLING THE RECEPTIONIST AND MAKING A FUCKING APPOINTMENT????
I still don't have a damn appointment and this is why I did not want to have to do this

We are fast approaching the anniversary of my brother and nephew's deaths.
So I am going to take this moment to ask you all if you have planned your escape route from your house in case of fire. Do the kids know the plan?
Is the battery working in your smoke alarm? Is there even a battery in your smoke alarm, or did the beeping annoy you?
What will you do if your stairs are alight?
If the grandkids are staying over, do they know the plan? Which adult is getting which child?
Where do you keep your house keys at night? Could you find them if there was smoke and fire?
Do you shut the kitchen door when you go to bed? That was what the fire brigade said would have made most difference for my family.
Do you turn electrical appliances off at the wall, especially the ones you bought from somewhere online?
Have you walked through your escape plan? You need muscle memory to kick in when the panic of an emergency situation hits.
Please, if you could think about these things and make changes if you need to it would mean that something good has come from our tragedy. I never want anyone else to have to go through this.

Ok, in my apple yesterday some of the seeds had sprouted.
If I stick them in some soil, what will I have to do to not get in the way of it growing?
I have the opposite of greenfingers - plants normally see me coming and die to save time.
Should I stick them in some compost in a little pot? I don't want to just get soil from the garden because it is full of other things and mostly clay.
How do I give these little seeds the best chance of life? Please explain like you are talking to a child as I have no prior knowledge. Thank you

Sir Terry Pratchett.
It has been 11 years since death inexplicably refused to give you back.
You still remain the person who has had the biggest influence on me.
Nanny Ogg teaches me to enjoy life.
Granny Weatherwax teaches me to trust in myself, and not to treat people as things
Magrat teaches me that it is ok not to know exactly what I am doing all the time, but to do things I think are important, even if those older and allegedly wiser don't really agree.
Vimes teaches me about determination, family and justice.
There are so many more lessons I learnt from the world you created, and I would not be me without the Discworld.

Ok my Beige buddies, in just over 12 hours my operation will take place.
I'm going to need you to be in top posting form so that when I come round I have a whole heap of cool stuff to read.
Could I perticularly request cute animals, silliness, funny tales and adorableness please.
Thanking you in all beigeness

Just remembered the occasion when my Youngest child, then aged 8, asked if petrol was vegan.
Their logic was that if it was from the crushed up remains of animals and plants, then it shouldn't be. When a vegan told them that it was ok for a vegan to use petrol they asked how long something had to be dead for before it stopped counting as animal matter.
I would just like to state for the record that the original question was posed before I had drunk any coffee at all and was what instigated the "no questions before coffee" rule.

How do! Time for an #introduction I guess.
I've been on the fediverse for 2 years now, and my main account is over at mendeddrum.org
Beige seems to be where most of my favourite tooters reside so I thought I'd come join the party, sidle in awkwardly and say hi.
