@nprofile…apqt attention, avec ce genre d'approche, ceux qui font de simples recherches (pas LLMs, juste celles des années 90) peuvent aussi être indirectement touchés: https://social.treehouse.systems/@Aissen/116674374905680680

@nprofile…50mt you probably don't care about this usecase (if you only have high res screens), but egui one the Web has fonts without subpixel anti aliasing, and that's sad… (also probably unfixable without adding bits of fingerprinting).

@nprofile…8d0p I understand maintaining branches is a lot of effort, but it's a bit annoying that getting the fix means updating to Android 17 right away.

@nprofile…50mt I applaud you for being that careful about the legal aspect of clean room RE.
However I wonder if you're not being overly cautious. I'd be curious to see a legal case about this particular chain (unclean RE -> ai training -> ai RE). I doubt we'll see a clear confirmation of your position in the next 10 years.

@nprofile…m7tv quite happy with mine: no external crate, but uses my own little library. Only 3 functions from it: https://github.com/anisse/advent2025/blob/main/src/bin/day04.rs
Library just here: https://github.com/anisse/advent2025/blob/main/src/lib.rs
Do not hesitate if you have any question.

@nprofile…f9sr French gos user here.
> the references to human rights organizations, large tech companies and others using GrapheneOS weren't included
This is verifiably false:
> Notre travail sur la sécurité et la confidentialité est très apprécié par les professionnels de la sécurité et est régulièrement recommandé et utilisé par les militants des droits de l’homme, les journalistes et les avocats.
For a mainstream media, this is a fairly favorable article (with obvious falsehoods). They contacted you and gave you the article closing words in the middle of police PR op, instead of taking it as-is.
Your feud with /e/ distracts from the interesting points like France being unfortunately more and more quick to adopt authoritarian policies.

Did you know? On Linux you can observe the file descriptor positions using `/proc/<pid>/fdinfo/<fd-number>`
https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man5/proc_pid_fdinfo.5.html
You can use that to observe long-running file processing jobs' progress. But there are tools that format this properly; Debian (/Ubuntu) packages `progress` a tool that does just that:
https://github.com/Xfennec/progress
It can snoop for coreutils processes, or just watch an arbitrary pid:
`progress --monitor --pid $(pidof -s lbzcat)`

Interesting tidbit of kernel development process: netdev maintainer Jacub Kicinski publishes subsystem-specific statistics to encourage developers to share the review workload:
https://lore.kernel.org/netdev/20250121200710.19126f7d@kernel.org/
I wonder if it's working?

Nice debugging story: Why is my CPU usage always 100%? (Upgrading my Chumby 8 kernel part 9)
https://www.downtowndougbrown.com/2024/04/why-is-my-cpu-usage-always-100-upgrading-my-chumby-8-kernel-part-9/
It reminds me of when I was an embedded developer. I also did one of my studies projects with the Chumby, so that was fun.

I have been thinking about that Linux CVE thing… Has anyone built automation to find out what Linux code you're actually running in prod and is impacted by fixes ? It shouldn't be too hard if you're not running distro kernels, start with what you build in the kernel, before doing profiling for loaded code.
Not that it would help to cherry-pick, but knowing if you're impacted does have value.

It's 2024 and GitHub still encourages bad development processes:
- it has no commit message review UI (like Gerrit or ... e-mail 😬). Good commit messages are essential to long term projects, and not encouraging reviews if bad.
- GitHub actions don't test each commit independently, meaning you can very easily break bisectability of issues (there are workarounds)
- and it tends to encourage squash and merge (as a result of those two previous points?), which is only good for write-only projects
