“The news organization is becoming more focused on visual journalism and developing new revenue sources, particularly through companies investing in artificial intelligence, to cope with the economic collapse of many legacy news outlets. Once the lion’s share of AP’s revenue, big newspaper companies now account for 10% of its income.”

With 99% member participation, we authorized a strike with 92% support. I’m so proud of the solidarity we have in @npub1fwm…qlu4. Our work is important enough to fight for a strong contract.

sorry, I know, it's disappointing. I will let you know if I hear about any breakthroughs getting it back online.

hi Nithin, yes it is frustrating, sorry for the disruption this is causing. I can say the tech working group has been meeting on jitsi.meet.coop and I've only had good experiences with it. We also have access to Jitsi via May First but I'd need to set you up manually for you to host meetings. I think those two are our best options for the time being.

this is the reason that came to mind, but I made up my mind way before that, probably from a security training.

it's a very annoying edit, and it makes me think they don't care about building a community of editors over there.

yeah, but it's two clicks away, and not something I've ever tried before:
1. the "show activity on this post" (a clock icon).
2. expanding the little arrow next to “edited” in the list.

I'm curious: does the post indicate to readers that it's been edited by someone who's not you?

I've seen this story making the rounds in my Signal chats, and I don't think it would be if @npub168d…tu7v had a used a more accurate headline. Vetting is important for sensitive group chats!

“According to one source, Unit 8200’s chatbot has been trained on 100 billion words of Arabic obtained in part through Israel’s large-scale surveillance of Palestinians under the rule of its military.”
This got me thinking about NSA mass surveillance and Salt Typhoon. What kind of language models are being trained on our private cleartext comms?

A moment like this highlights an advantage to strictly chronological feeds, where maybe I don't want to see something posted 21 hours ago right next to something posted 21 minutes ago.
