When I see that someone is spending time on X, a social media platform that has its own AI CSAM generator, for its “cheerfulness”, I assume that’s like visiting Epstein island for its sunny beaches.
A pretense.
(Editing to add a citation before anyone tries to tell me it doesn’t have that “feature”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grok_(chatbot)#:~:text=Sexual%20deepfake%20and%20illegal%20content%20generation%20on%20X )

I wrote a little bit about using Apple’s new “container machine” virtualization tool (basically their version of WSL) to run a local Mastodon development server on #macOS

I heard this is the hot new typographic style for photo-centric social media apps

1996: be careful entering your credit card details online because the connection might not be secure
2026: be careful entering your credit card details online because the website might have an extremely secure connection to 798 advertising partners, 24 malicious NPM package authors, 5 secretly North Korean software contractors, 3 firms that collect personal info for right wing political campaigns, 2 data sets used for training the AI that picks ballistic missile targets, and ICE

@nprofile…e4ry Ehh, maybe.
“The goal, he says, [is] to provoke a cultural debate about what counts as friendship in the age of artificial intelligence.”
Not to build sympathy, but to prime people to talk about it by writing clever things on the ads that they knew people would agree with. Otherwise the entire product is so far out there it begs to be ignored

@nprofile…e4ry Maybe I’m cynical, but I think this company paid someone to deface the ads as a publicity stunt and that’s why the ads have so much white space. All the “defaced” ones I’ve seen in pics are “defaced” with the same sentiment in similar handwriting.
Would they get as much (or any) attention if they weren’t getting “defaced”? Probably not.

@nprofile…f3zv it was what the AI-generated captions in that video made of the word “protocols”, like in your screenshot

@nprofile…kgua apologies in advance if this is a stupid suggestion, or if it’s something that was already considered, but…
if the problem with the #31101 approach is the time it takes to resolve the link in the click handler, why not resolve them earlier, like when the link comes into view (debounced to avoid a flood of requests when scrolling quickly)? Too much server load?
At least as a stopgap until the long-term fix is widely adopted? That sounds like it might take years
