Coinjoin isn't perfect.
How can you, for example, later sell that amount in a practical way without leaving a trace?
You know full well that in subsequent consolidations, it has been possible to trace the criminals.

I totally agree.
The thing is, I decided not to block anyone so that Nostr wouldn't turn into a echo chamber and so I could hear all the different opinions.
But that psychopath has been stalking me for years—I ignore him, but he's always there—so I finally have to block him 😂. My experiment is over.

2026-11-02 22:25:00 UTC

It's funny—there are some real psychopaths on the internet.
If I have a disagreement with someone, I might just exchange a few insults—it offends me, but then I move on.
But here, there are people who take their feuds to the extreme of psychopathy.

2026-11-02 22:22:03 UTC

Seriously, man, if you’re always following me around trying to offend me, you must have a really sad life.
Honestly, I feel really sorry for you. I guess you must have had a tough childhood or are dealing with some kind of mental health issue.
For your own good and for my peace of mind, I’m going to block you. I just hope you get better and enjoy life.

OTC dealers on the black market accept tainted Bitcoin at a 10% discount.
I also think Monero is better for this situation, although we have to consider that, given the millions stolen, there isn't enough liquidity in Monero to cushion the price.

Out there, the system is robbing you at best and killing you at worst.
And here we are arguing about whether Monero, Coinjoin, or Lightning is better and the other stuff is shit.
No dude, all three are good tools and each one has its use case, it's up to you if you want to get caught up in stupid wars fighting among ourselves when we want the same thing.
Get over this for fuck's sake, let everyone use whatever they want.

You don't have any of these problems with Monero.
CoinJoin is useful for small amounts, not for large-scale hacks.

Bitcoin for saving (CoinJoin).
Monero as a privacy tool whenever you can use it.

For small amounts, it’s feasible; for large amounts, CoinJoin doesn’t work. The latest hacking attacks have occurred via Wasabi and have been traced back to subsequent consolidations; this doesn’t happen with Monero.
The same is true for Lightning, which is unfeasible for large amounts.
Even for large amounts, other methods used by North Korea in cross-chain OTC black markets are better.

You may agree or disagree, but the reality is this: mainstream analytics agencies can’t even measure the trading volume behind Monero on the dark markets.

The “POINT OF NO RETURN” according to Mises:
"A state becomes virtually unreformable at the point where the majority of the population is financially or structurally dependent on the state (public employees, civil servants, recipients of subsidies or aid, beneficiaries of transfers, etc.).
As soon as the group of those who clearly benefit from or are supported by the state is larger than the group that does not, the system blocks reforms, since the majority votes in its own interest to maintain or expand state benefits.”

Exclusive from Blast: The Prime Minister Has Planned a Social Media Shutdown for October 24
Two days before the October 24 demonstration, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has asked Orange, SFR, Free, and Bouygues Telecom to prepare to block access to TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and X. Blast reveals the letter and the minutes of the meeting that followed, in which the operators expressed their concerns. The government had already used this freedom-restricting measure in New Caledonia in 2024, before being overruled by the Council of State.

A single Tor connection doesn't protect you from correlation attacks; Wasabi does take this into account.
Be careful about recommending Tor and assuming that Tor alone makes you anonymous against a state-sponsored attack.
Bitcoin Core also takes this into account with its new private sending feature.
The Tor browser itself takes this into account—each tab uses a separate circuit.
Unfortunately, most apps that use Tor do not take this into account and use only one circuit; for example, Samurai and most Monero wallets had this problem.

We need to distinguish between on-chain privacy and network-level privacy; I’m not going to discuss on-chain privacy here.
At the network level, the Wasabi wallet offers the best privacy; in fact, no other wallet has even come close to what Wasabi offers in its network stack.
In the Monero world, on-chain privacy is very good, but the network-level privacy of most wallets is crap—either you use your own node with Tor, or you’re screwed.

Maintaining privacy with CoinJoin requires ongoing care: avoiding timing and amount correlations, address reuse, linking change outputs, consolidating mixed coins, and combining them with identity-linked funds. You also face intersection attacks, Sybil participants, malicious coordinators, wallet fingerprints, network metadata leaks, and identification through exchanges or merchants. The effective anonymity set may be much smaller than it appears, and additional rounds cost time and fees without guaranteeing proportional privacy gains. Bitcoin’s ledger remains public, so later spending can weaken earlier privacy.
You need to stay in CoinJoin forever.

2026-10-17 13:12:24 UTC

I'm an avid user of coinjoins, but they're very flawed.
The privacy initially achieved is greatly diminished by the consolidation and subsequent use of the coins, as well as by the behavior of other users.
I believe people aren't being honest about Bitcoin's privacy or AI's ability to de-anonymize.
Monero has privacy flaws, but it’s light-years ahead of Bitcoin’s privacy; FCMP++ is fucking incredible.
I keep thinking about how to combine Monero’s privacy with Bitcoin’s, along with the atomic swap capabilities that FCMP++ will bring in both directions.

Encryption protocols have relied for years on entropy that has never failed because it is well-designed and thoroughly tested—the closest example to us being Bitcoin Core.
The dice analogy is like saying that just because one manufacturer produced a defective product, I’m going to start riding horses again.
That’s the problem—the lack of review—and it’s precisely what I explained in my message: hardware wallets are rarely reviewed because they’re commercial products; they aren’t there for the good of the community like Bitcoin Core, OpenSSL libraries, etc., are.

At this point in history, with everything we know, defining oneself as left-wing or right-wing is a sign of profound brain damage.
There are only two kinds of people: those who try to be free—and therefore try to prevent others from stealing from them—and those who are slaves and don’t care if others steal from them.
All those who believe in the system belong to the group of slaves.
The left-right dichotomy is merely a flawed social construct designed to make slaves believe they have a choice.

To say that multisig is a huge pain in the ass is to fail to understand the new paradigm we're in.
A real pain in the ass is losing your stack—now that's a pain in the ass.

Everyone’s talking about that compressed-gas-powered jumping car—a far cry from a flying car by the statist Elon Musk, one of the people who receives the most government subsidies.
I don’t care one bit; I’ll never be able to buy that car. I’m just a regular worker who gets taken advantage of by the government.
I’m way more interested in Monero’s FCMP++—now that’s fucking awesome.
Look up where this transaction came from:

After examining the current state of self-custody, my views on what setup to recommend to the average user have evolved.
As you know, I have not always advocated multisig. I previously believed that a strong passphrase with sufficient entropy provided adequate protection. However, following the Coldcard incident, I began reconsidering that recommendation: a passphrase can add security, but we still depend on the device on which it is used, leaving us exposed to both software flaws and supply chain attacks. A compromised device capable of capturing the passphrase or the derived keys can defeat that protection.
This led me to recommend multisig using devices from different manufacturers. However, the severity and scope of the Ledger attack have also made me question relying exclusively on hardware wallets, even when combining multiple brands.
A device being open source makes it possible to review how it works, but it does not guarantee that anyone has reviewed it thoroughly enough. We cannot assume that comprehensive, ongoing, independent audits exist, or that there are sufficient incentives to discover and disclose vulnerabilities.
Setups such as Yeti attempt to address this problem by relying on widely reviewed software, such as Bitcoin Core and Ubuntu, and on general-purpose hardware. The latter has an advantage: purchasing it does not directly identify the buyer as someone intending to hold bitcoin, which may make certain targeted supply chain attacks more difficult.
However, I also see limitations in this approach. If several keys are generated or used on the same computer, compromising that computer could compromise the entire setup. We still depend on Bitcoin Core, the operating system, and the hardware itself. A tampered download or a vulnerability in any of those layers could undermine security. Keeping the computer offline reduces risks, but does not eliminate the possibility of introducing malicious data or leaking information through the signatures it produces.
I also believe that a 3-of-7 setup adds too much complexity for the average user. Securely distributing and maintaining seven keys and their backups is difficult in practice. Nor am I comfortable relying on digital backups for long-term recovery: they require maintenance and may become tied to storage media, software, or formats that are no longer accessible.
For these reasons, my proposal would be:
- A 2-of-3 multisig setup, balancing security, redundancy, and ease of management.
- Durable physical backups, such as metal plates, while also preserving the complete multisig wallet configuration.
- Three independent general-purpose devices, from different manufacturers and running different applications.
- Only one private key on each device, generated independently, with no device ever having access to the other two keys.
One combination I would consider exploring is:
- An Android device running Electrum.
- Another Android device from a different manufacturer running MetroVault.
- An iPhone running BlueWallet.
The idea is to diversify the hardware, the software, and, to some extent, the operating system. This way, compromising a single device or application would not be enough to spend the funds.
For this purpose, I would choose devices dedicated to signing, kept offline and separate from everyday phones. Backups should also be distributed so that a single incident cannot expose two keys or cause a loss of access.
This approach still has one significant weakness: **the level of review and auditing of the applications**. We cannot assume that all of them have undergone sufficient security analysis; MetroVault, for example, acknowledges that it has not yet undergone a formal independent audit.
That is why I believe the community should support the review of these tools, fund audits, and improve their interoperability and recovery procedures. The goal would be to have independent, straightforward signing applications subject to sustained scrutiny, using Bitcoin Core’s level of review as a benchmark.
This is the direction that currently seems most reasonable to me for reducing dependence on any single manufacturer, device, or application. Any criticism or suggestions for improving the setup are welcome.
