RandomNym

As said makes no sense for us at the moment and personally I don't see any issues with using an alias. Email is still the most used communication tool and in our business a must have.
We also don't have any resources for such developments at the moment since we have to spend most of.our time with extent our infrastructure, domains cost a lot of time with our volume, and VPSs as well.

Sure we could integrate Session, Nostr etc but that's a way too much work.
The next issue is account recovery when someone looses access to the key this can end up horrible, an account needs a good protection like 2FA.
Even if Nostr may be nice for some ppl it is super niche and not broadly used. Same with Session. In both cases you tie a service to a key, I the case with Nostr to an identity. I don't see a huge advantage in that case. You can generate a Nostr key just for Mynymbox but than, you forget to read the messages and locked out, lost data ...
I see too much risk for a customer to loose data and domains with keys only.

2026-10-27 18:08:54 UTC

It is already hard to reach customers with email. They don't read it and days later they open a ticket because their service is suspended because of no payment. Same with domains, never checked their mailbox and than open a ticket when it is a way too late.
We have thousand domains registered and also tons of VPSs . We wouldn't be able to handle tons of more such tickets.

2026-10-27 18:06:50 UTC

- reply

We have thought about key based logins but there are disadvantages with it. First is we can't reach the customer, can't send invoices, Info's about suspension, abuse etc. For domains it is a high risk when the domain expires the domain is lost.
It's a way easier for Mullvad, IVPN etc to have key based logins since you just loose access to your VPN. With Mynymbox you may loose a way more like data.

Colocation, we used to resell Hetzner and still resell their dedicated servers - sometimes. But we are thinking to drop it.
We are sitting in Digital Reality AMS5 in NL with our hardware. Finland we still leased some servers but also here we drop that and may replace Finland with Sweden colocation.

2026-10-27 10:16:26 UTC

Why is Mynymbox more expensive than other VPS providers.
#nevent1q…4jqh

2026-10-27 09:39:59 UTC

- reply

Yes, we are more expensive. Our setup is more expensive. We don't have bank accounts so we have to swap a lot, costs money. We have our own hardware etc, costs money. Our company is registered in Nevis and not US, costs more money. We do not oversell RAM, storage etc.
And I think it is better for Mynymbox to have less customers with higher prices with better support times instead to be cheaper and have tons of customers with tons of more work.

Briar - Secure Messaging
Briar is a messaging app designed for activists, journalists, and anyone else who needs a safe, easy and robust way to communicate. Unlike traditional messaging apps, Briar doesn’t rely on a central server – messages are synchronized directly between the users’ devices. If the Internet’s down, Briar can sync via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or memory cards, keeping the information flowing in a crisis. If the Internet’s up, Briar can sync via the Tor network, protecting users and their relationships from surveillance.
It is a super old and still widely used tool

The issue BTC has is the strange behavior of "being" of value without usage. That's not normal. To be a store of value it must be used otherwise it is useless. That's why I say very often BTC is an expensive collectible.
And everyone who has read some Austrian Economics books and understand the principals of this theory should see this issue.

I was BTC user since 2013 till 2024 and used BTC daily and only BTC. But I totally gave up for some reasons. One is as I don't see why miners should stay with BTC, it will be totally unprofitable for them sooner or later if the price doesn't go up and up and with the price the usage. I have talked with guys from a bigger mining company and they also agreed. But this is the game theory of BTC that everyone play.

You should learn more about fungibility, what that really means, what a transparent blockchain is. Bitcoin is a CBDC in self custody.

Bitcoin is a CBDC in self custody. A fully transparent block chain is very dangerous in times we live now, we see more and more mass survailance, AI is also in play, they want to know everything about your transactions and your finance. Bitcoin is not fungible which is the most important characteristic of good money. We see already tainted coins, they freeze funds when coins have a suspicious history etc.
