But then the manufacturers fuck with the size of the squares, the thickness of the sheet, the width of the roll, and so on, until the only objective comparison left is how much it weighs.

And they fuck with that by changing the inner roll to find a new place to shave for profit in a race to the bottom to creating something that technically is still a legal roll of toilet paper.
