Every single person mentioned in the article as being involved in this is either someone that I've never heard of (Ronny Fernandez, Liv Boeree) or someone that I have a rather strong negative opinion on (Aella, Grimes, Eliezer Yudkowski). Also the Botez Sisters, who I mostly know for making silly YouTube videos in order to try and make chess more popular with young people and have basically neutral opinions on because I don't know enough about them.
Anyway, why is Berkeley funding this group? This is a mix of random celebrities with no involvement in AI, and also Eliezer Yudkowski (a cult leader who is probably the single person I would least want in charge of anything to do with AI safety) and Grimes (who is Elon Musk's wife, and I think that this association says all that needs to be said).
