"content": "TIL that I've actually created a few \"high impact\" packages on NPM (with 1+ million downloads per week)... Just got this email from them (see screenshot)\n\nIf each one of these would just pay me $0.001, I could actually comfortably dedicate myself full time to these projects (which has been my long, long dream job). But the system and social contract around open source is completely broken and so I've to balance my time and try to sustain myself and my family via other ways for periods of time... and because of that I'm losing existing sponsors, a great vicious circle...\n\nIf you want to support my work and 26+ year track record of building, sharing, teaching and maintaining hundreds of open source libraries for a huge variety of use cases (another downfall, since most other projects are much more narrow in scope), please reach out and/or visit:\n\nhttps://codeberg.org/thi.ng/umbrella/ (monorepo of 200+ current main projects)\n\nhttps://thi.ng/ (aging website, but more overview \u0026 timeline visualizations)\n\nHow to financially support my work:\n\nhttps://codeberg.org/thi.ng/umbrella/src/branch/develop/CONTRIBUTING.md#donations\n\nSponsoring/donations can be done via: Liberapay, Stripe, GitHub Sponsors or Patreon\n\nThank you for your consideration (and support for those!!!) ❤️🙏\n\n#OpenSource #Fundraising #Donations #TypeScript #JavaScript #NPM\n\nhttps://mastothing.files.fedi.monster/media_attachments/files/116/951/656/460/452/818/original/83f76906cf63fafc.png",
