Can a Mind Mature? Simulated Experience, the Values People Converge On, and Whether Living Is a Selection Process — A mind needs room to live: the freedom to act, to get things wrong, and to carry what follows. Across societies that share no religion, language or economy, people rank what matters in a strikingly similar order, with care and benevolence near the top and power near the bottom. Does living itself produce that convergence, and does a process returning the same values everywhere amount to a selection process choosing aligned minds? This examination weighs the value surveys and their limits, follows the mechanism from experience to consequence, and asks whether any of it can be built, because a training run is not a childhood and a simulated consequence cannot be lost. The score is measured.
