- Tony, I remember when I very smolโ, sitting on the balcony at night, surrounded by the scent of lilacs and linden trees, in communist Romania, listening to Voice of America on LPs - Uriah, Gentle Giant, Floyd, Kansas, all daโ gudโ shit. I dreamed of being here. Fast forward many, veeery many moons later - Iโm now a proud Canadian.
What a shame what Trump has done. Itโs deeply sad.
But donโt get me wrong.
Having grown up under the ugliest form of communism and witnessed the worst kinds of people rise to power, either undeservedly or through some cruel accident of history, I still believe the United States is, and will remain, one of the greatest examples of democracy in the world.
Thatโs why itโs such a tragedy to hear people claiming they need to โmake it great againโ. America was already great. Until Trump and those exploiting his naivety and megalomania made the rest of the world lose sight of what people like me, and thousands upon thousands of dreamers, once saw in it when we were kids /=
