I can tell the battery in my truck is nearing the end of its life because my dash cam isn't lasting very long before it auto powers down in parking mode. The power module for it automatically kills power to the camera when battery voltage dips below a certain amount in order to preserve the starter battery.
Eventually when I install a separate house battery, the dash cam will run off of that and there will be solar panel to keep both it and the starter battery topped up.
