After much experimentation and much learning, I have decided to retire 65X-DOS and the Nivix emulator as an experimental project.
From it, I learned many things, among them:<li>The fundamental design of 65X-DOS is sound</li><li>Sentinel 65X hardware is unsuited to a command-line based OS that runs from an SD card because of the transfer speed</li><li>DeepSeek V4 Flash is very able to make software that works cheaply, and debugs surprisingly well given the right tooling</li>
I will be archiving the source tree, in case it's ever useful, but I plan no further work on it. The money I spent making it, I feel is well spent -- it bought me a lot of knowledge, cheaply and quickly. I will not, however, be releasing the software, as it's not something I feel comfortable sharing. It was only ever a laboratory experiment.
