Silent Payments is only a minor improvement, and mostly for the receiver. The receiver still needs to think about how to consolidate the coins in a privacy-preserving way. This matters a lot. Even if the initial silent payment can't be linked to you and thus the sender is not linked to you either - if you then consolidate in a way that links the donations to you, then both you and the sender are blown (assuming unmixed coins from the sender).
