By diffiusing responsibility across entire systems - systems of capital, systems of surveillance capitalism, systems of data brokerage, systems of labour oppression and restructuring, systems of regulatory capture - it's difficult to create a direct line of accountability to individual persons.

The purpose of a system is what it does.
