I did the 3-day Bank’s Track walk in January and was absolutely thrilled with the number of birds we spotted (I have very patient walking buddies). We were pleasantly ‘swooped’ by some very energetic tūi at the Ōnuku hut on the first morning. My highlight was a tomtit / miromiro as we started the descent into Pōhatu / Flea Bay. Sadly, I didn’t get many clear photos (reason to go back and do it all again really).
